Fitness Goals Support Group
This community is dedicated to group support around achieving fitness goals, whatever they may be, through personal training, athletic activites, or other strenuous activity. Whether you are trying to get fit to treat a health problem, boost your mood, relieve stress, or tone your body, this group is a great place to meet other like-minded people who have similar goals.
There are also cords that you can buy that will connect your monitor to your TV, so you can watch videos from your computer. Some TVs have this connection built in or can connect wirelessly, so you might want to check that, as well.
There are also workout routines that you can get from websites. I don't know any off the top of my head, but I am a fan of several youtube fitness channels. Working out at home has become more convenient than ever without the need for heavy, expensive equipment. Good luck! :0)
I joined my local YMCA. I have never been a member of a gym before.
I have to say that after going severeal times, I much prefer working out at home. I will probaby drop my membership. Especially now that it is getting warmer and i like to get outside and walk for exercise.
For me it is more about getting into the habit of doing something every day, or I just will forget. I have several workout DVD's: Jillian's 30 day shred, Gunnar Peterson's Exercise ball routine (can't think of the name of it), and a very old Tae Bo tape. I don't like working out when anyone else is around, which is easy for me as i am single with only one college aged daughter who is gone alot.
Even if I can only make it through the first 10 minutes of a workout, at least I am doing something and creating that habit.
I will usually continue to watch the video for motivation, even if I just stand there or walk/march/dance in place. Eventually I get the endurance/motivation to complete the entire workout.
Of course, this goes back to the idea of something is better than nothing and just creating that habit to move forward to do more as you become more comfortable with working out and having it part of your everyday schedule.
