I'm still learning about money here. I mean I know how to earn it and yes how to spend it, but I'm still learning how to be frugal and make my money grow.
The UK has a lot more coins than America. Both countries have a penny. Than America has cents and England pence. America is a penny, 5 cents, 10 cents, and 25 cents. Yes, there are other coins but these are the ones used everyday.
The UK, has the penny, than 2 pence, 5 pence, 10 pence, 20 pence, 50 pence, one pound (dollar), and two pound coins. They do not have a pound bill, like America has a dollar bill.
So at times it is very easy to get weighed down with a load of coins. In America, I saved all coins. Right now, I just can't do that maybe someday when I'm better with the currency and how to manage it, but I do want to start saving some of it.
So as of today I am no longer spending the penny, the two pence coin , the five pence coin, and the ten pence coin. I think this will also help me come to a better understanding of how to use the currency correctly and to my advantage.

The 23rd of June the UK will have a vote to see if the people want to stay in the European Union or leave it and go about business on their own. IF they decided to leave the EU, then at least temporarily the pound will lose some of its value, which will make my dollars in America worth more.
Right now it takes about $1.44 to equal one pound, which is pretty good but it could get close to being equal. IF that happens my money will be out of America really fast.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I wonder why if UK is in the EU why they did not go Euro? I just have no real understanding of international monetary policies and I have no plans to go anywhere outside the USA for some time in future...when I can afford it I probably will pass on out of USA trip anyway....LOL
The reason why it is difficult is because of all the tax laws and paperwork that is done on American citizens that live abroad. It is a nightmare, not only for the financial institutions but also for the individual. It is the main reason why so many Americans and I do mean many Americans give up their citizenship.
Eventually I will move the money over here - I just don't want it to have any affect on the bank I have in the UK...
Partly because of sentimentality but I suspect also because it's a currency that can stand on it's own two feet.
We did actually start to make the move towards the euro and there were issues.
