I used to do OTR...can't say I
understand what those who are blocking the fuel pumps are trying to achieve. It they have gripes, why take it out on
their fellow drivers who are just trying to earn a living?
..Maybe it's the old adage "Misery likes company"?

Da.....excuse me, I believe the truckers frustrations of trying to earn a living is taking it's toll on them. A 'boycott' is what it's called. It gets results in a lot of cases. Think! If gas prices continue to escalate, there will be fewer products on our store shelves. Unless you, yourself, prouduce and manufacture all of the products that you/we use each day, commonsense says, those are about to become a little scarcer than usual. Who knows how far this will play out and how scarce they will become. it's any one's guess. Quite frankly, I believe our country is being sabotoged... We are so spoiled that most of us don't realize just how vulnerable we really are and just how much we are NOT in controll of our daily needs and items of necessity. Think about it! Planes, autos, trucks and trains........DA!... Oh, and, I am not a trucker but I am a consummer... I eat!

OF COURSE truckers are upset about the price of fuel. But just what do they think they're gonna acheive by preventing another driver from fueling? It's an idiotic gesture that really only sends the message "Since I'm
hurting (financially) you're gonna hurt too" Freight is gonna get moved WITH OR WITHOUT the guys who think they're 'fighting back' in this manner, because as bad as the economy is, there's always someone else who will do the job for one less dollar. Long distance trucking is an impractical and expensive way to move freight anyway.

Hi yea my husband also drive trucks and when there off no money and with bills and everything elsa they need to be moving and that strike oh my not good for us either...

Sorry havent heard anything about a strike but am confused by this string of posts is there a strike going on or is it a bunch of independant drivers doing a boycott?.

Thanks for the link MisterSti... But that was from a year ago. There was supposed to be a "slowdown" around the first of April around Washington DC and this past week about 500 drivers took their trucks to Washington to try to talk with someone who cares. But little was said on the news. I haven't heard of any trouble at the pumps. Seems the owner/operators are being forgotten in all this. My son is an OTR owner/operator. Last year he was making decent money, but fuel prices this year have put him in the barely getting by category. The shippers are paying more and the brokers are getting more but not the owner/operators. And in all this fuss about fuel prices and rising costs, etc. I haven't heard any more about the record breaking profits the oil companies are making. What happened, did they disappear? Sorry about this ramble. A subject close to my heart.
