This community is for people who are struggling to meet financial obligations of any kind. Financial challenges include everything from the day-to-day challenges of making ends meet to managing credit card debt to bankruptcy. USA taxes for this year are done and my paystub from my last paycheck from America is in my possession. I recently got my first paycheck in the UK and am learning about the tax laws.
UK's year end is April 1st. So Americans living here have until sometime in August to file my claim. So this year, I'll be filing a UK claim as well, then next year will hopefully be the last one where I have income from both countries.
My adventures to work include a seven mile round trip walk and a half-hour on the bus (hour round trip.) And I LOVE IT.
The bakery is close to Manchester airport and I've figured out where I should be on my walk to catch my bus home after work. My day ends at 6 PM and just as I'm leaving, the first plane is coming in to land. By the time, I hit an overpass the fourth plane is overhead. McDonalds is the fifth plane. when I hit the bus stop, the seventh plane is overhead and my bus arrives within two minutes.
Started closing down my American CC's and won't have one for awhile. My first one will probably be as a cosigner on my wife's one.
All my freight arrived... exactly as I packed it.
Hopefully in the near future i'll be laying a wood floor in our living room and making it a dining room, with a fireplace (from America) and a stereo. It will also serve as our den and library. Then in the loft will be our TV room. It has skylights and will be perfect place to rest after a day at work....
Got my first appointment with a cardiologist next month.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....
That bus passed through Owen's Park, where most of the Students reside. I had to get off there when I was in Manchester in July 2010 for an OA meeting. I noticed a Chavette and was gonna ask her for directions to the Church the meeting was held in when she responded, "What are you Lookin' at? W**ker!" Staring is part of my Asperger's.
I enjoy walking, but three and a half miles one way and three and a half miles back is quite a challenge for me. My basic quota is 1 1/2-2 miles.
I know the miracles are available. Perhaps I need to think outside the box. My Brother suggested investments in Gold and Silver.

The livingroom and loft sound lovely. A nice place to spend a relaxing evening or lazy weekend day.
I'm a little curious about the American Creditcards. Are they not accepted well there...or is just using them and paying more of a hassle than it's worth? I'm assuming that your excellent creditscore and your past and eventual future work history will bode well for another CC there. Will you still have access to "perks" creditcards? Mileage, cash back, etc.
The only way I can keep those cards was to have an American address, which you can pay a company to give you one and monitor your mail, but I decided against it. I'm to far away to try and keep up with it as far as fraud or theft.
Still have three, one I just closed because they were ready to send me a new card.
Using them in Europe you do have a foreign transaction fee, so they just aren't worth it.
Right now I still have a sizable amount of money in America and as the British Pound drops those dollars are worth more, so they'll sit there for awhile.
Eventually, the goal will be to have a steady income for six months then apply for a European CC... if I still can't get one then I'll apply for a secure one, which will help me build credit.
It is like being a teenager all over again...
The foreign transaction fees and potential need to pay a company just to have a US address do seem lke a lot of cost and bother for the occasional need of a CC.
