January is in the books and it also marked my first full month ever in England. Up until this year, it was usually the last two weeks in December and then the first two weeks in January.

Still sitting really well with the money I brought with me, which means I have not had to touch money in my American banks. Last week, I opened a bank account here and soon will be adding to that.

Companies here do not pay people with company checks, everything is direct deposit, so this was a necessity.

My wife and I finished the month in Scarborough... the premise for the song "Scarborough Fair" by Simon and Garfunkel. It was a great time and small honeymoon for us.

In January, I applied for six different jobs... wasn't really looking to hard... just keeping my ears open for anything that might interest me.

Yesterday, I got a call from a huge bakery and got hired. I start work next week. Something entirely different then what I did before. Working in the warehouse, getting shipments ready for delivery. A lot less stressful then my past job... which is what I want.

Been doing some remodeling in our flat and enjoying the mild English winter....

Goals with a new job will be to start a healthy savings account in the UK, after six months or so I hope to get a car... we live by mass transit and still will do that but there are some places that the buses just don't go... and I'm hoping that my wife and I can always find time, like every 3-4 months for weekend getaways... I still want to spend a night in a castle and travel the orient express...
