the apartment above mine has been turned into a mini-group home for the homeless; 3 men, till they get other places to stay. Another tenant told me one of the men is a convicted child molester----and sure enough, I found his photo and conviction on govt site.
When I was in my hometown drop-in ten years ago, the volunteer head of the drop-in was already a child molester, though I didn't know it when I shook his hand. He was later arrested, again, for molesting a four year old.
Another person at the drop-in, who I bought a soda for...molested a four year old later; the mom also involved.
My rural slum hometown has had lots of 1960s businesses now converted to govt social/welfare programs. I've benifited from some of these programs, but some really bad people have moved to town to be near this stuff.
I definitely believe that poor people have more dysfunction than the rich, though there's plenty of people will disagree with that, with the clich that the rich hide it better.
if I had the money, I'd certainly live in a more upscale neighborhood, and even be paranoid of any girlfriend I could afford, since I've also known people whose kids have grown up and killed their own kids!

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I guess it's codependency in those with financial issues that we attract abusers if we have been abused ourselves. It's almost like a magnet.
Humans are dysfunctional as a rule of thumb, regardless of wealth and status. We never know what's going on behind closed doors. A friend of mine told me this Chinese proverb, "No House can have a sign outside it saying, 'Nothing Wrong here!'"
5 year waiting list for me for govt housing 30 miles away, which, thankfully, only takes applications from people with a clean police record.
sorry about the child molester in neighborhood....keep eyes open for him approaching any kids around your place....call police if needed...it can be done anonymously....
Also good luck with the new digs waiting list...hope that works out for you...
How is the kitty?
my brain either shut down, or into selfish woe is me mode, but I didn't even think of the family outside my back window, whose kid gets on the school bus at 630 in morning, till I read your reply.
I also returned to staring at the ceiling for a few minutes, between reading your reply and posting this;)
my elderly cat does have his good days, thankfully, with me as his 24 hour nursemaid.
I'm on 5 year apt list cause I live in adjacent county---with people in nyc, 100 miles away, even on same pa waiting list!
there actually are some people on this site defending molesters, with me yesterday afraid of getting banned cause I made an "offensive" post about molesters!!!
I have seen so much dysfunction in wealthy bosses and they don't hide it at all. You have to work around it.
One boss would pick his nose so much that I was tempted to tell him he needed a permit from the city to dig there.
One idiot partner used to get mad and throw heavy staplers and stuff out his office door where people would be walking by--such an immature brat. The delivery guy told me he had to take stuff to this partner at his home sometimes very early in the morning and this partner would be exercising naked in front of the front picture window where people on the sidewalks could see him.
Another partner would make mistakes and be well known to always blame his secretary. Ultimately, the State Bar holds him (the attorney) responsible for everything, but he would try to tell clients it was others and not him that made the mistakes.
Another big partner went through secretaries every two weeks. When I interviewed, they lied to me about that and I took the job and he treated me like dirt. I went into his office and calmly told him that he may have a degree from Harvard, but it was obvious that Harvard had not taught him any manners and that he acted rude and without manners to me. I slammed his door and walked on the street for 15 minutes and went back to work. He then treated me like a queen because no one had ever talked to him like that. But every three months, he would delve back into this degrading talk to me and I got tired of having to reprimand him like he was a child. He had an incredible education, was excellent at what he did, was a high level partner in a large firm, was the head of a large State Bar Committee, but he couldn't get himself straightened out on treating secretaries properly and instead treated them and others underneath them like dirt. I left.
another job towards the beginning of my career was a job I took that was a referral from college. The guy called me around next to his chair and I knew he was going to go over a document and what he wanted done with it and I had worked before doing this and it was usually massive changes and paragraphs moved all over. Instead he sat there and grabbed the front of his pants and was rubbing himself. I left there and informed the college of what happened.
I'm hoping to get up the courage to tell the family in back of me about who is living in the front; be nice if I could just bump into them; I would certainly feel a lot worse if something would happen and I didn't tell them.
