This community is for people who are struggling to meet financial obligations of any kind. Last year I was considered for total knee replacement surgery. I had to put it of for financial reasons - I didn't have the $5000 deductible. So I have spent the last year saving money to cover my deductible and cycling to improve my current knee health/strength.
Last week, I say my orthopedic doctor to schedule the surgery. But instead of TKR, I am scheduled to a knee arthroscopy. My several months of cycling have strengthen my knee musculature to the point were the TKR can be delayed for a couple more years (at 52, I'm kinda young for that procedure). So that is great news. A less invasive day-surgery without the hospital stay, no long term PT and I have the money to pay for it!! Win-win in my book.
The only down side - spending the day rolling $500+ of pennies, nickles, dimes and quarters to take to the bank for help pay for the surgery. I'm kinda sad about having to empty my coin jars and start over again. But next time, I will use the accumulation of coins to buy what I originally intended to use the savings for - a new road bike!

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....
Makes me appreciate my health, and our Health Service. (btw, I'm not trying to score political points against America, it's just a personal expression of gratitude for what I have)
Your message sent me to the store to finally get a cheap coin counter and the rolls and started counting mine today.
Nickels and dimes are at $102... the pennies will take awhile... I haven't spent a penny in nearly 20 years... I have one of those large culligan dispensers filled with them.
Bill, after all these years (and dreams) bringing it to the bank to count would bring no reward for me. I've grown attached to these jars, watching them fill with money... just to let someone else count it would be spiritually killing for me...
