Unfortunately there's not much you can do about this debt unless you take your BF to court and try to sue him for either forgery or fraud. Since your name is on the paper work either legally or illegally-(since you didn't know) either one or both of you (if you're a co-signer) are legally bound to this debt and havoc it reeks on your credit scores as well.

You can always try to call the dealership or where you secured your auto loan and see what they say, but if your BF was the right type of person he should have been honest w/ you and should try everything in his power to do the right thing and pay the loan or try to get title turned over to him.

Thank you SweetPea for your reply. I figure out there is not much I can do too. I will call the car company tomorrow see how it goes. This is one of my financial problem I'm dealing with right now. It is so hard to live through each day trying to clean up while I am just a nanny with a low income. The joint tax with my ex-husband still own IRS over than $120,000 while I was a house wife. I filed innocent spouse form and waiting from IRS. I don't want to have a bad credit but it is now too late, so stressful even I am a positive person. Thanks again

What do you mean he used your name on his car?
the car is financed, the fiance company absolutely insists you carry insurance on the car, and the insurance company insists on seeing proof of ownership, in addition, you would have had to be there to sign ALL the paperwork including title papers. All Dealerships require proof of insurance and proper Identification. Something is not right here. There is no way this could have happened unless he had someone with your ID impersonate you.
If what you say really happened, call the police. Go to the district attorney.

Thanks Mqn1, Unfortunately, I had knowledge when he asked to put my name on a car because he had a bad credit but he promised to make a payment. Now, I already called the company and gave the car back and there is much I can do. Still, he gave me an attitude saying that we will have no chance to buy the house on my name because of I decided to give the car back my credit will be very bad. This is the first email he sent to me " FYI no chance for house soon, till this gets filed and cleaned up. Next time its in your best interest to listen.And think with logic and not emotions." I felt to disappointed how little he cared at the same time we have so many problem in our relationship and I'm trying to break up with him. I am so ashame to put the problems and ask for the answer on this site because it is unbeleivable how patient I had with him. It is my flause to give the trust to him. I am so stress. I did the same thing...eventually my ex, the father of my children, took off with the car leaving me with the debt. The finance company started garnishing 25% of my wages...so I paid this vehicle off & i dont even get to have it! The good news is I took him to small claims court & won! Now I just have to get him to pay...

I have a similar well sorta dilemna. My mother co signed on the loan for a car, and after a year or so the engine blew, by then my credit was worse and the bank would not lend me the money to get the vehicle fixed! Now i am paying 150 bucks a month on a car that is sitting in a parking lot where my sister lives. It is my Mom that I worry about here.. I do make the payments for her sake but i would much rather them (the bank) take the car back and be done with it... Such as being in debt i guess
