This community is for people who are struggling to meet financial obligations of any kind. Financial challenges include everything from the day-to-day challenges of making ends meet to managing credit card debt to bankruptcy. Get support from others who are going through similar obstacles on the road back to financial stability.
Ten years ago I started a website for the main purpose of trying to sell my books. Through that time, I've sold a few books and added a couple of CD's to the mix.
I am not making money on these sales. My site is a niche site. It is not for all of the public but it does help those living in a 12 Step Program.
A few years ago, I started receiving offers from ad agencies about placing ads on my site and I began wondering if I wanted to go down that road. Well, I decided to go for it and see where it would get me.
Now it has become my website's "cash cow." I have recently been in contact with a couple of new ad agencies that deal specifically with recovery based issues.
In fact, tonight I signed a confidentiality agreement with a site for the future of ads on my site.
How did I get to this point in time? Regular updates... at least once a month with new poems, articles, stories and a classic thrown in. Broadening the horizons with NLP, life coaching, and hypnotism and a subscribed mailing list.
I had a dream for my website of making some money... it was never about making a fortune because then it would have become a job and my love for it would have left... I just wanted the site to be self-sustaining and it has reached that point.
This past week, for a half hour's work of selling ads I made more then I did working at my 40 hour a week job. I know it won't stay at that pace... so since this was basically "free" money... all of it has been placed in savings...
It wasn't the dream I originally dreamed but it is recognition from agencies that my site has value... and that is all I ever wanted from it

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....
Incidentally, I say this last bit here just to be helpful. My small biz (just one employee, me) helps authors who self publish with graphic design for the book, or just the cover, or digital ads, etc., so if you ever want any help, but don't want to pay the pricey agency fees, just let me know. They found my site, they looked at it and saw it fit their marketing needs...
And amazingly, I actually sold a product that I made. LOL
I have never put a lot of marketing influences into selling my products, which I should probably do... so right now, every time I sell something it is kind of a time to celebrate.

The one thing I have never doubted with anything that I have sold is that it's a quality item and I know the recipient will love it...
Been enjoying this "ride" of late, I just need to stay level headed and realize that this won't last forever, so I need to keep this money out of my general income and just use it for the website...
