My Rheumy said that they don't RX Vicodin because it is not effective for Fibro, but the major ingredient in Vicodin is a large dose of Tylenol and a small dose of hydrocodone. So, since I can not take NSAIDs I am told to take Tylenol...now I have a hard time believing that Vicodin, a larger dose of Tylenol with a wee bit of Hydrocodone would not reduce my pain level, since the main ingredient is...TYLENOL!
Geesh!
XOXO
I am new to the discussion board. I was diagnosed several weeks ago. I know it sounds ridiculous but it is "nice" to have a name to call all these weird symptoms. I was so busy with life that I didn't really sit down and try to connect the dots with what was going on with my body. Last year, I started having migraines with dizziness but I have a history of migraines so I didn't think anything about it. Then about 4 months ago, I started having come and go joint pain esp. my elbow. I also have degenerative disc disease and scoliosis (just found out about that). It seemed like when I got really tired my body would ache (just like I was getting the flu), I would take my temperature but everything was fine. I just thought I was really tired (which of course I am because I have issues sleeping). I am a nurse so I didn't want to "google" my symptoms, but hey I needed some answers. Of course, I met the criteria for fibromyalgia. I think that the symptoms that worried me the most (besides the pain) was the "fibro fog" I can remember sitting in a meeting with my supervisor and she kept trying to explain something to me and I just sat there and stared at her because I couldn't "connect the dots" to understand what she was trying to explain to me. I finally went to the doctor and he put me on Cymbalta 30 (I am now taking 60 mg once a day) It has helped with the body aches but I am soooo fatigued at times. It scares me because I am concerned about continuing to work (yes, the fatigue is that bad at times). I have never responded to an online post but I don't feel that I can talk to my family. They are used to me being the "strong one." I am seriously thinking about cutting back my hours at work (my doctor said he would give me a note) but I feel like i should be able to work through this. Thoughts? Your experiences? MomeRN
Someday, maybe they will take this disease seriously and do some real research for it.
