Those times are so rare and precious that I literally don't want to move until I have to, because once I move, the pain free bubble bursts and its back to Groundhog Day.
My poor hubby watches me take those first few steps like the tin man and I always make sounds of pain... ugh.
Sometimes at night I say things like "anytime now, it's ok with me if I am healed overnight. Please, please...'
That would be amazing. I cannot remember the last time I actually got out of bed in the morning or actually anytime without being in pain.

I have learned to stop justifying myself with other illnesses-yes, there are people out there who are definitely worse off than I am, and I am grateful that Fibro is not life threatening, but these things do not change the fact that I experience daily, debilitating pain that interferes with my day to day life.
I want to add that even though it may not make the newspapers, there is quite a lot of research being done on Fibro...Fibro is not static, there is no "cookie cutter" case which makes research hard, but people are studying, publishing and performing clinical trials.
Here is a link to the National Fibromyalgia & Chronic Pain Association. There is tons of info about what people are doing right now to raise money and awareness for Fibro...the site also mentions some of the more recent scientific research, and depending on where you live, there may be opportunities for you to get involved hands on.

There is also PubMed which is a pretty technical site, but if you just type in the word "Fibromyalgia" thousands of studies will pop pertaining to all different aspects of Fibro, so while we have no cure, at least be assured, that there are people trying to raise awareness and find the root cause of this Disease.

I hope knowing that research is being done, makes you feel a little more hopeful, and less like we are a forgotten population.

I was living in TX and it was no big deal to be on narcotic pain meds-I had to move to the East Coast and I asked for my RX of Vicodin, and you'd think I just asked for Heroin...I can only imagine the note went in my file. I'm sure I'm black-listed now!
Like you, I have some other Chronic Diseases, so I have some other meds that may help Fibro,,,not sure if that by reducing the pain of other illnesses just makes me think Fibro feels better though? The only thing I am on specifically for Fibro is Skelaxin, but I take Plaquenil, which is not a Fibro med, but greatly reduces a lot of joint pain, Prednisone 4 days a month which eliminates all pain and I wish I could be on it every day, and then a bunch of benzos, that I think just relax me enough to feel less anxious.
So, I have no actual pain mgmt plan, and am not likely to get one where I live. I take between 11 - 13 meds at any given time.
When I was allowed to use Vicodin PRN I was on 7...that's a big jump, Effective pain mgmt, reduces the number of other meds you need to relieve even a fraction of the pain a narco can.
What sucks the most, is that this whole thing about not RXing Narcotic Pain Meds pretty much stemmed from a Dateline TV special...1 bad apple took away necessary treatment for so many people.

I was taking Gabapentin (Neurontin), an anti-seizure medication daily as a migraine preventative, but have had to start weaning off because of side effects. But the best side effect was that it reduced my fibro pain, and I've read that others use it for their fibro. So every day - back to crawling out of bed and taking stock of my daily pain issues before I take that first step.
