Mourning the loss of a pet is serious. I'm glad you have Festus to lift your spirits, but be sure to allow yourself to mourn Misty. So it doesn't creep up and bite you in the butt months from now. The subconscious is a terrible thing.
No two dogs are alike so I'm sure you'll just love him in a different way.
We have a terrier & ?? mix. Rescue dog and he is just a riot to be with. Our last dog was a huge Afghan so they are so different! I swear this little guy can run faster than the hound did.
Good luck and hope he puts a smile on your face.
Plus I have had my Cat now 16 Years..he has seen me thru MANY Ruff Times...When he Dies I will not bee replacing him, as I Know I would Compare any new pet to him...that would So Not Bee Fair !! (To the new pet)...But I am Happy that You could...and Animals ALL Deserve Loving Homes...
Bless ya Girl !
Sending warm hugs and prayers your way.

Festus will be a wonderful addition to your family and fill your hearts in new ways. I hope he brings you comfort at this time of loss. I understand because after the pain I had when we had to put our last fur baby down (about 10 years ago), I swore that when the one we have now eventually passes on, I will not wait like the last time because puppies are a good distraction.
Gentle hugs :)
My prayers are with you!
This past March i had to take her to the vet and have her put to rest. One of the hardest things I've done.
She was 20 years old.
I do really hope you find that place where stop mourning and begin to remember the life shared with your pet.
Ralph
i send you the best of luck with your new puppy.
