Okay here goes. We left on a Saturday, July 30th, going to Gatlynburg. This is about 2 1/2 hours from my home. My Yorkie, Misty, that I had for 9 years stayed with my son. This was against my better judgement. We live in the country and my son lives in a trailor park off of a very busy road. After being on the road my son called to tell me she got out he had the whole neighborhood looking for her. I called my sisters to go help and then had a complete break down along with constant praying.
I cried myself to sleep that night. I told my husband I don't know how people handle this with a child. I cannot begin to imagine. Sunday we went to Rigleys Aquarium, as long as I stayed busy I was ok.Plus I didn't want to ruin everyone elses vac.. This is where we were when my husband got the call. I'm surprised I was not taken to the mental hospital. My first thoughts was "I can't go through this again and I sure can't replace her. By the time we were leaving the Aquarium I told my husband I couldn't walk in the door at home without a puppy. He said I wouldn't be able to find one there. I got a local paper and the first call I made I found a 7 1/2 week male teacup yorkie. Now for the earie part that let me know this was the way this was suppose to happen. The lady I bought "Festus" from was named "Misty" and her name is on his papers as part of his mothers name. We had to drive 45 minutes to get him and as he was being put in my hands my son was on the phone asking me where to bury her.
"Festus", because my husband says he looks like Festus on Gunsmoke, has been wonderful. However it is still so hard dealing with her gone. It was also very hard on my son. She was the apple in all of our eyes.
I guess the morral to this story is although the Lord taketh away He also giveths. His mothers name is "Misty" :-)
