Good morning! Why am I awake? Becuase I did not sleep! Weather shift atop the last of the house fixing flared me up a bit. Today, I hopefully can convince Hubby to move furniture back where it belongs, but if not? Pfft. I'ts been out of whack for nearly 6 weeks. I'll cope.
Weird fact: It took less than 5 gallons of water to cause all the damage. We use thrice that in a day for showers, etc., per person, on average. (Pause for google... US Geological Survey and US EPA estimates disagree, but figure 70-120 gallons per day per person. Depends if you count water use for lawns, swimming pools, and car-washing. I don't, b/c I don't have a pool an dnever water my lawn or flower bed.) You can use 20 gallons just running the dishwasher, and even a high-efficiency washer like mine can still use 25 gallnos a load. Average shower ranges between 2-5 gallons per minute. (I use 5 gallons total unless it's hair-washing day, then it's much higher, b/c even cut relatively short, I have a lot of hair to rinse.) And, just for kicks, newer toilets use 1.2 to 1.6 gallons per flush, so do that math for your own personal self. Old ones can use up to 4 gallons per flush. Thus the variation in estimates....
BTW, another reason for variations in estimates? I'm probably one of the few I know who actually 1. installed water-saving appliances and 2. uses water-saving methods every day. I grew up on a well. Water could run out. Ergo, even if my dad wasn't on his psychotic-Navy-boot-camp-training mode, we were sparing. But a lot of people report they do all that and they don't. I was raised by a Navy vet who did his time on submarines. The water limitations? Epic.
And we're right into the trivia, I see. Hmm.
Anyway, this weekend's war, so to speak, is getting through the rest of hte cleanup. I did the gentle detergent yesterday. Today is the mop-with-the-spray-of-cleaning-polishing-stuff. Takes for-freaking-ever. Have to use my fancy mop with the fleecy head. I make my own, btw, b/c hey, you just need *fleece*. YOu don't have to buy the $15 ones. You can, for $15, buy a *lot* of fleece by the yard from a fabric store, cut it, run it up quick on a sewing machine, and have about a dozen of 'em. Or superglue the fabric if you hate sewing. Whatever. It's like using old t-shirts and socks for cleaning rags. I know people who buy rags. Ummm.... that's what old clothes are for, right?

FIBRO TIP! Go to the home improvement store and buy a little hand dolly (hand truck). THis one, which cost me $30, is a HUGE help. OMG. Why did I live without it? http://www.lowes.com/pd/Milwaukee-Steel-Standard-Hand-Truck/50068183
Whyd o I recommend? First off, if you have to move furniture. Slide under one end (the long side of a shelf unit, say), tip gently, and you can hack a 250 pound move without feeling more than 40-50 pounds of stress on your body. Second, if you have to bring in bags of mulch or similar from the car for your gardening? Stack 'em up, roll it on! Third, works *awesome* for *laundry hampers*. If you don't ahve to go up or down stairs, that is. Also useful for: bulk cat litter, dog food, cases of beverages, and you can splurge and get one that has straps and stuff. (I just use bungees.) I have no idea how I would have survived this home disrepair without mine. None. Still fibro-flared, but nothing like as bad as might have been. Oh, and if you have two, and one helper who complains about his "back twinge" every three months (like my hubby)? You can move couches too. A lot more easily, at least. Not without effort, but hey, it helps!

Weird trivia moment: Most fumbles in the NFL? Star QB Brett Favre. How does that work? Simple. You need to be the one with the ball to fumble it.
Odd records that still stand: Most interceptions thrown? QB Jim Hardy of the Chicago Cardinals. Yes, it goes back *that* far! He threw 8 in a big loss against the Eagles... and the next week threw for 6 touchdowns against Baltimore when they were the Colts. The most interceptions in a game record still stands after 66 years.
Artists don't all die starving. Andy Warhol and Pablo Picasso both died with estates in the millions of dollars. Picasso achieved this partly b/c he lived a very long life (born 1881, died 1973), an dhte fact his style changed regularly, with the times. Warhol, the pop artist from Pittsburgh (born Andrew/Andrjz/etc. Warholski), courted controversy and commercialism, which of course increased the value of his works. He also did a lot besides art (managed the punk group Velvet Underground, penned books).

OK, I gotta go drink hot liquid and rest up some more. Hubby's new job starts Monday so I am staying outta his last "off" weekend. He wants to watch nothing but horror movies for basically 24 hours. Yikes!
Health and hugs to all!

... observed a solar eclipse.

Mornings or Nights?*You can’t say both (or neither), or add stipulations, or make substitutions- just commit and pick one of the two choices!

Sorry to hear that you are flaring. Try not to overdo it while doing your mext round of cleaning. Remember to take some breaks.....and breathe. :-)
Had a few suspicious moles cut off to be checked yesterday. The doc wasn't super concerned but better safe than sorry. Other than that, it's a keep on keeping on type of day. Feeling a little tired, worn out, sore, down....but the day will get better!
Hoping everyone has a decent Sat!
Kel
Kel, I pray there's nothing going on with the moles. And I hope they get the answer back to you quickly. Enjoy some down time.
I'm so tired! I just need a day, but chores call. Anything I think I can get help with or ASK for help with, never happens. Guess I'm on my own. Husband has a huge heart and helps so many others, my stuff just doesn't get done. And my son has pushed me over the edge with his schooling. So the hammer is coming down and he won't like it. I gave him the opportunity to display some maturity but it didn't happen either. So, mean mom comes out.
How can I push the world aside and get some sleep?!
Leo, I am glad that your house is finally coming back together. I still have plenty to do here since my spring housecleaning plan was so rudely interrupted. Now, I will be alternating outside and inside. I hope that I can keep the momentum going. I love October because AMC runs horror movies a lot. The B movies are my favorites. I could watch 24 hours of those no problem. I have a collapsible dolly that handles about 150 pounds. I bought it at Costco quite a few years ago: https://www.amazon.com/Magna-Personal-Capacity-Aluminum-Folding/dp/B000HVVSDU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1476542160&sr=8-1&keywords=dolly+with+telescoping+handle
I love this thing as it is small/easily stored and I can throw it in the back of my car too. I use it to move stuff outside and inside too. It is always parked right outside the back door. We have a big dolly too that is a magliner but this is what I use as I am usually on my own. I also have a big plastic kids wagon that comes in handy for moving stuff around especially in the back forty.
Kel - I have to have a skin check every 6 months and sometimes need moles removed. I call it my weight loss plan. I had a near brush with melanoma quite a few years ago. If I had not been persistent about getting a mole looked at by 3 different doctors, the outcome might have been a lot different. If you ever have a bad feeling about a mole, get it removed even if the doctor argues with you. I hope that you have a relaxed weekend.
Hi Bobbii - I'm tired too and chores are not really what I want to be doing. I'm sorry that your son is upsetting you with his schooling issues. I hope that you can get through to him. Don't overdo it today. Hugs!
Time to get motivated. I hope that everyone who follows is having a good day. I have a retirement party to go to this evening. Chores, nap, party and then fall down. Later peeps!
Fan, try to have plenty of rest *before* the party so you can enjoy it, okay?
OK, I am in freaking despair. I cleaned up the plaster dust and guess what?
FLEAS.
What *are* these things?! I know some fleas become resistant to pesticide, but c'mon already. Two different kinds, *and* smothered in plaster dust for two weeks?! And despite the pesticide being mutagenic so they're born mouthless?Yep, one bit me. Needs a mouth for that. OMG.
OK, so here's the Halloween movie:
"Infestation! The Fleas That Do Not Die..."
Sorry you didn't sleep so well last night, and that you are flaring. Take it easy. You have been through so much, Leo. I have to laugh about the water saving. My daughter is an organic, natural, recycling etc...person, who can empty a water heater with one shower. We all get in the shower before her if at all possible.
Kel, glad you got those moles removed. Last year my husband had this giant, ugly looking mole on his back. It was so big that he needed stitches. It came back negative for any problems, thankfully. Hope you feel more chipper as the day goes on. And that your pain is not so bad.
Bobbii, my hubby has a huge heart for helping other folks too. We have lived here for 2 1/2 years, and there is a brand new dishwasher that has never been plumbed in. He has declared that he is doing it next weekend. Our well does not have enough water pressure to run it anyway, but we will be getting the new well soon. Hope your son buckles down and gets going on the schooling stuff. Take care.
Fantod, glad you have some sunshine. It's as gloomy as ever here, and drizzling. Don't overdo it out there. And yes, that old snow is sure to come here in the Midwest soon. I think hubby mowed for the last time yesterday.
Hubby and I ran a few errands this morning, but I was in no shape to be out and about. My knee hurts so bad that I can barely walk. Stairs are almost impossible. I put a brace on it, and have ice on as well. I feel as though something changed with my knee today, and it is not good. So it's ice on the knee, and heat on the arm for my phlebitis.
Hubby finished our sign today, and it's sitting by our front door. Looks great. The thing is huge. If I could get pictures to load on here, I would post it, but it always says my pics are too big...I don't even know what that all means.
Tonight we are invited out for dinner with 8 other friends from church. Should be an enjoyable painful night for me.....but I really want to try and live as normally as possible. Plus hubby and I don't see each other all week, so it's nice to go out and do something.
I barely slept at all last night. The pharmacist said that would happen from the predisone. So at 3:00 this morning, I was watching 30 for 30 on ESPN. Interesting, but I'd rather be sleeping.
Take care.
Sorry you had a bad night and your fibro is bugging you. I hope you can sleep tonight. I'm just so glad all that craziness is finally over! When we stayed on my in-law's mountain last summer I did a good job of abiding by their strict water conversation rules since they use wells and rain catchers. Having lived in Indonesia where every time it stormed the water ran out, you had to learn how to store water and use it so it didn't run out. We used to have a dolly when we lived on Oahu and it was so wonderful. When I had to manage the move in alone, boy, I was wishing I had one.
I had a migraine again yesterday. I've had these headaches daily for like 2 weeks now. But I took an imitrex and pushed myself out the door. My husband was driving and I felt awful, part of me was regretting leaving the comfort of my bed.
1st dropped hubby off to his meeting at the college, he said he'd be done in 45 mins. Then went across the street to a craft store and bought some canvasses (some wooden ones, too), zoomed down the block to whole foods for some food from their buffet, and came back to the college. My husband wasn't out yet, his meeting went over and I was late for my 1pm appt so I text him I had to go and had to come back to get him.
When I saw my social worker she was encouraging me to set up boundaries for myself for when my SIL and her whole family come stay for the holidays. She said I have to worry about taking care of myself and not go crazy trying to please everyone, because that would be codependent. I told her I don't plan on going wild trying to please anyone. In fact, I'm having anxiety about a whole house full of people and wanting my space.
Hubby and I then went to CostCo... we didn't find a single size mattress but queen and king only. I told my husband we should ask someone what happened to them. He argued let's go get our other items 1st. We only had about 6 items listed. But my husband wanted to look down every single isle. At 1st I thought he was looking for something specific. But it was clear he had shopping fever (I hate shopping). We ended up spending an hour in there. So lucky I was in an electric buggy. I can't tell you how much I wanted to leave him there. We ran into 2 separate people we knew. lol. Eventually we made it to the check out and asked about the mattresses. The staff told us they had to make room for the upcoming holidays so they cleared out some things and the single size mattresses had to go. I was peeved we bought everything but the one thing we really needed! Well, we're stocked with frozen food, TP, paper towels, etc, till armageddon comes!
Headache this morning.... don't know what the plans are today.
Kel, sorry you had to have some moles removed. More ouchies. I hope it's good news and you heal quickly!
That's right, Bobbii, put that foot down! You aren't a machine. You need care and rest too.
Fantod, I hope it's not a hard fall... maybe more like a glide into bed.
I would love to see the sign, Ida. Does your hubby know how to shrink the photo? I heard you can post them in your journal.
Angela, I can't believe some crazy lady was eavesdropping and tried to tell you what to. NONE of her bee's wax! Next time someone harasses you like that maybe tell one of the staff? Hopefully they will do something to remedy the situation. When you aren't feeling well, the last thing you need is some crazy person making you feel worse.
I am watching Game 2 of the baseball playoffs - Cleveland Indians vs Toronto Blue Jays . While I dont care to watch other sports , I do like baseball. I am routing for the Indians in honor of my brother who has lived in Ohio for years and he is excited they are in the playoffs.
I am with Leo's husband and Fantod - tonight and tomorrow night I am going to watch horror movies - no better time than October, but it has to be at night with candles lit. Unscented candles with this nausea. I can watch blood and guts and they dont bother me because I cant smell them thru the TV.
It is a beautiful day in my part of Michigan. If I didnt still have this chronic nausea/illness going on I would be outside more. It is nice to have the windows open and the sunshine . It exhausts me to read how much you all have planned to do - I am just hoping to get caught up on the dishes and laundry oh and more importantly take a shower.
Speaking of nausea - ever walk into a warm tire store with extreme nausea - not a good thing, it was really smelly. One of my sons' newer tires went flat and I went with him to the tire store to make sure they didnt screw him over because the tire was bought in 2015 and had a warranty. I was ready to have my mamma bear claws come out if needed.
Blue, I used an old hillbilly trick. Put a candle in a saucer of water with a little dish soap in it. The fleas comes to the light/heat, the soapy water "traps" them, and whammo. They drown, and you have photographic proof to show the pest control company while tapping your foot and mentioning "lawsuit".
Now to make supper and watch "The COnjuring 2". I try to watch some movies with him, in exchange for his putting up with my Christmas music and movies in December!
