Well, I fractured my left fifth metatarsal yesterday... and today (yes, today) got the owrd all I need is "to wear a firm shoe".
Um... FFS. The ER all night and morning so far to be told... Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation, here's thebill, not even a damn walking cast or "boot" or soemthign?
This effing hurts! I can't walk on it! But hey, who needs... medical help.
So that was my farce of a night. I've broken foot bones once before, I know what this is gonna be for me, and I am so PO'd it's not even funny. Of course, casts and splints "don't really help". No, bu tthey keep the foto stable till it heals! *headdesk* Medical "wisdom" is now to not do much for such "small fracture events".
If I could've kicked that indifferent SOB doc in the nuts? I'd have made peanut butter outta his family jewels.
How di dI fracture it?
Sidestepped to avoid a cat, stepped forward and then stepped sideways again at high speed to avoid the *other* cat, and hit my foot against a door frame hard enough to fracture a bone.
Irony: Neither cat is one I own. *headdesk*
So I'm off to bed, for sleep, and then to see about seeing a doctor who might have better than "eh" to say. At least I have the X-ray done. Yay me...
BTW, never ever go to an ER the night your area has a Tuesday night party that resulted in several ODs, and a couple gunshot and knife wounds, and enough blood in the waiting room that even I was grossed out. The other hopssital was even worse off, they got the "trauma" cases. (E.g., the dude with the gunshot to the chest, the car accident, etc. This was just "noncriticial" stuff. Only time I've seen any OD termed "noncritical"... I ended up spending hours arguing that even an OD that wasnt' a potentially lethal "event" should be monitored as carefully as any other OD, so at least one guy is feeling better (if he remembers any of it)...
I'm going to bed. Love to all, and may you never know such crazies as I end up with. I wish we still had our itty bitty local ER/non-urgent walk-in overnight clinic thing, but... Now we drive and drive to end up with 5-7 counties' worth of other people in trouble. *sigh*
Interesting trivia: You get more radiation from a PET scan than you'd get from any other test, and yet people freak about CT/X-rays. You're far more likely to suffer longlasting health issues from exposure to car exhaust pollution. IIRC, something like 300% more likely. Expsure to pesticides is more likelyt o lead to cancer than either. So there ya go.
Puma power to all!
It can become so hard to deal with at times, the fatigue and sleepless nights. The 4-5 hours of sleep at time only 3 hours. The tears flowing down my face, but Jesus is always there in the time of need. He gives you rest and a piece of mind. Some people do not understand how it feels so it is good to talk to others who know. If it had not been for the father above i would have been comitted...
Been a long time since i shared photos in this group of my baby girl Abby so here you go for some cuteness!
