Good morning, and a shout-out to our newest/er members, lurkers, and just-ain't-posting-ers. Glad you are with us:-)
Today is our last "hot" day. Then it's only going to be "very warm". I give credit to our local weatherman for creative use of synonyms for "ugh, icky, too warm".
So... Mom's edema remains a medical mystery. (Yay.) My PT went okay. I can afford 3 sessions since my HMO won't cover, and I already have "home self-directed therapy" exercises to do. They were super-nice and super-accommodating about my PTSD, but OMG, I bless the guy who prescribed my anxiety med. I was still so nervous I nearly left five times in the first twenty minutes, and that was *with* the "happy pill". So I go next week and week after, then done. Could be worse.

OK, guys, I am trying to laugh this off, b/c it's so freaky. The chapter-stealing person? Well, she's now gloating over the "Glowing review" it got by the editors. Ikeep telling myself "Karma is a bigger bitch than I ever need to be" but oooh, it's not easy. Theft of intellectual property is something I know about. I was an editor. I have done writing. There's things you do *not* mess with, and plagiarism is *not* a form of flattery, but... Yeah. Puma's hackles are up and puma tail is a-lashing.

Which brings me to the other weirdness of my last 12 hours. I had a nightmare. Now, this is why it was a ngihtmare. We were all at this realy small circular table, squished in but at the same time we all had room (it was a dream, you know how they work), but we were only there as our Avatars. So we were these floating round avis drinking tea or coffee or (cocoa, okay, it was me!) and talking the way we write here, and it got nightmarish not because people's avis of their pets were talking but when somehow I saw my own avi, and my puma had my human hair on its head atop the rest. WTF?! I wish I could say I had something fun to induce that particular weirdness, but it's just my PMS.

It is the last day of August! If you pay rent or have other bills due tomorrow, don't forget to write the checks, click the pay-option button, etc.:-)
And today, I want you to do something nice for yourself. Spend no more than $50, but no less than $10. Jsut for *you*. Not your kids (I know you love them, but you need love too) or your spouse (not even slow-acting brainwashing substances, sorry) or your pets (guilty!) or parents or siblings or neighbors or houses or apartments or cars or random strangers on the street. This is for *you*. Want to get a bouquet of pink flowers in a teapot? 1800Flowers has them for under $50 US. How about warm fuzzy slippers against cold feet? A super-cheerful t-shirt nobody else would buy for you? A book? A movie? Heck, an order-in supper for Just You? Pay a babysitter/dogsitter/parentsitter and just spend that money on sitting still! But do it for *only you*. Why? Because you are worth the treats you spend all that time arranging and making and so on for everyone else, from pets to parents and all in between. Heck, if it's just two tubes of a favorite foot rub... Just you.

In 1881, Richard Sears today became the first US men's tennis champ, the first US championships in tennis being held on grass in Newport, Rhode Island. A resort for the wealthy, to no one's surprise.
In 1964, California became the most populous state in the US, a position it still holds, beating out (in order) Texas and New York, although FLorida is gaining on New York for Third Place in that contest. Wyoming, btw, is least populous, coming in even behin dthe non-state District of Columbia by a couple spots. (Given the difference in size, kinda scary. Mostly b/c it shows how crowded DC is.)
In 1990, East Germany and West Germany signed a treaty that meant the two would being the process of unifying and "harmonizing" their respective political and legal systems, although the former East Germany today remains rather less prosperous and more contentious thatn former West Germany. (Without the Soviet system, a lot of jobs vanished, and some people never found work again. They still complain. After 26 years, I think it's safe to say one's unemployment is not entirely the fault of reunification... Seriously, job snobs irk me. "Oh those people stole our jobs". Really? YOu were spreading mulch for a living? *headdesk*)

And I'm off to deal with yet another day. Stay warm, safe, dry, comfy, and big hugs to all....

Mornings or Nights?*You can’t say both (or neither), or add stipulations, or make substitutions- just commit and pick one of the two choices!

Leo, I sure hope your therapy helps your arm. That sure has been a bother for you. I'm wondering which avatar was me in your nightmare. I change mine around now and then. If it was my puppy, I hope he was nice. I love your therapy for today. I have some birthday money left, and will use it on something nice for me. Thanks for some guilt-free spending...because Leo told me I could. :)
I woke up in a lot of pain this morning. It's one of those mornings where I just want to take my fibro scuba suit off. I will be using the heating pad a lot instead.
Nothing to really do today. I'll finish the laundry. Maybe the well guy will come today to give us a quote.
more later....
I'm glad to hear that your heat is going to back off for awhile! It's getting cooler here too lately with just a touch of fall in the air. I've been to PT off and on over the last few years...sometimes it helps and sometimes it seems to make things worse. It's great to hear that yours is helping! I kinda remember that dream...that was me sitting to the left of you drinking a beer, right? :-)
I did a few things after work yesterday and am very sore again today. I really don't get this fibro thing....The hardest physical thing that I did was take a short ride on a 4 wheeler. hmmmm It'll get better....just gotta keep moving forward.
Hoping everyone has a mildly wild and very wacky Wednesday,
Kel
I missed you in passing. :-) I'm sorry to hear that you are in so much pain. I think we should have a national fibro pain day off here next month! Try to take it easy today...sending you all the healing vibes that I can muster!
Kel, I wonder about fibro too, all of the time. If you exercise it hurts, if you don’t it hurts. There really isn’t a happy medium. I hope your pain subsides a bit throughout the day.
Ida, sorry to see you are in so much pain. Are you still dizzy like yesterday? I sure hope not. A day of rest is probably what you need. Last week was super busy.
I woke up with a pretty stiff neck this morning. I come into the office and it sells like a combo of crap and puke. It smells in the halls, but my office is the worst. The maintenance person is looking into it. It is gross. However, there really isn’t another location where I could go to work, except the library. My eye hurts and I don’t know if it is my “normal” eye pain or something else. I do know I can barely keep my eyes open. Have a good day.
Ida, rest up, okay? And Leo gives you permisison for guilt-free treat!
Bball, oh no, that's horrible! What on earth culd cause such stench? Yikes. Big hugs to you, and your poor eyes.
Treat yourself, okay? To just not needing to do anything but cuddle your pup:-)
ida, I'm really glad yesterday's scare was nothing and your bp returned to normal. I'm sorry you had to spend so much time there alone. Thanks for thinking about me. I still don't have a therapist. I talked to my rheumy and he gave me some Voltaren gel to see if it helped my neck or feet. It never helped and it caused a my stomach to cramp and have gas. He is going to check around for a good therapist in my network. I should hear back from him today.
Kel, I've always wanted a 4 wheeler or a speed boat. LOL. And I agree stupid fibro can make anything hurt. Take care today and I sure hope you get some relief.
Bbmom, Your eye pain sounds horrible. I can't imagine. My neck has been killing me. I tried some Voltaren gel last night, and it did nothing for the pain. I foresee another round of icy hot this afternoon. I hope your neck pain eases up and that darn smell goes away. Yuck, and sorry for you!
I'm in so much pain everywhere. I feel like I'm freezing and every joint is aching so bad, and then every muscle is sore. My neck was bad yesterday, then I did yoga with my girls last night and it's tripled in pain. It's so hard to function like this.
Have a good day!
Leo, PT makes me worse. And it wastes my time. I hope this gives you some relief and increased range of movement with your arm. We are finally cooler. I don't like heading into September with hot weather.
Kel, perhaps your body was just in a bad place so any little thing would hurt you. Don't do too much today.
Ida, glad you have a down day. You've been so busy helping with the kids. Enjoy your gift to yourself.
Angela, your coffee area sounds lovely. You must be a natural hostess. Especially with all the baking you do too. Enjoy your little punkin.
BB, I wouldn't be able to stand being in the office with that smell. It would not only make me sick but I wouldn't be able to breathe. I hope that doesn't linger. Perhaps some baking soda? Especially if you have carpet since odors seem to linger in carpets.
I did a lot of cleaning yesterday and I was hurting by bedtime. I had neglected the house so I could get the paperwork done.
On a positive note, I finally finished the lace knitted shawl. Months and months of work. Very intricate. Today I will block it so the details can be seen. I'll have to take breaks because my back won't be able to handle leaning over that much. I can't wait to wear it.
I have to clean my dining room and prepare for a class I'm teaching Thursday. Also, lesson planning for two other classes.
I hope everyone enjoys treating themselves, per Leo's directive ;)
Angela, sorry you are in a lot of pain, but happy you are doing some things that make you happy like setting up your kitchen corner.
I still don't have motivation to work. My job is incredibly unchallenging for me. Oh well. It pays well.
Twin, sorry you are in so much pain. Yoga hurts my hands horribly. I would like to try it again, but with a chair or something. Yoga for the over 80 group! haha Hopefully the doc finds something to help you.
Ida - I'm so glad that you went to ER yesterday and everything was OK. I just wish you didn't have to be there by yourself. I did that for awhile on my first trip to ER in May and it was kind of scary. I'm with you today - attached to a heating pad. Take care of yourself and just rest.
Morning Kel - I'm sorry that you are hurting today too. Sometimes, it doesn't take much to set off this beast. I laughed at your description sitting to Leo's left with a beer. I was probably floating around on my broom. Give Sparty some extra attention when you get home. Have a good one!
BBMom - That sounds like a disgusting smell! I'd be going home or spending the day gagging. I saw your post yesterday about the picnic. That sounds like a lot of lifting of heavy stuff that maybe you should not be doing just yet. I hope that you can get some help with that. Sorry that your eye is bugging you. Hang in there!
AngelaJo - You did a great job getting the coffee bar ready for family and guests! What a good idea! I'm glad that you finally told your Mom about the abuse you endured while married. I hope that helps her come to a better understanding of your issues. I hope that having your "little pumpkin pie" with you will help today. You've been doing really well with standing up for yourself and getting your health problems under better control. Bravo for not cutting too!! Rest up today!
TwinMom - I'm sorry that you are feeling so crummy today. I just wish one of your doctors would figure out how to help you be more comfortable. I'm glad that your Rheumy is looking for a therapist in your network for you. That was nice that they offered to do that. I hope that you can get through the rest of your day OK. Big hugs!
Bobbii - I bet your lace knitted shawl is just gorgeous! It sounds like you are and have been extremely busy. I don't know how you do it! Enjoy your day and take time out for a treat!
I do have to run a couple of errands today. Have to get to the bank. Getting new tires on my car tomorrow instead of after Labor Day. The current sale that is going will almost pay for one tire. I will figure out a treat that I can get while I am out. Then, it will be nap time. There is no way that I can get through today without a nap. Shout out to Blue, Sonya and Bear!
Kel, sorry you are hurting more again. I think a 4-wheeler would about do me in. Hope you are better by this evening.
bbmom, I am not feeling faint like yesterday. That was such a weird thing. I hope it stays away. Sorry your neck is hurting...and that it stinks in your office. Good job with finding a different office and putting on some good music.
Good job on the coffee/tea station in your kitchen, Angela. Great way to take your mind off of things. Glad your mom is treating you better. Hope your pain lessens as the day goes on.
twinmom, I sure wish you weren't in so much pain. I understand the freezing thing. That happens to me all the time. That is great that your doctor is looking for a therapist. It sounds like he is understanding what you need.
Glad you got your shawl done, Bobbii. It must be a real sense of accomplishment for you. What color is it? Sorry cleaning gave you more pain. Hubby does the floors for me.
Wish you were sleeping better, Fantod. I have been having trouble on that front as well. Try and get a nap in, as you say.
Well, I listened to Leo and ventured out to get myself something. I spent $22 and bought 2 pairs of sweat pants and 2 sweatshirts at Walmart. I wear pajamas all the time, and I'm always afraid someone is going to come to the door and see me. Now I won't look like a lazy bum. I need very soft clothes because my skin hurts otherwise. The bummer was that I brought the stuff home, tried on the sweats, and the pants were too big....so I hopped right in the car to return them and got 2 other ones in a smaller size. They fit, and I'm wearing the blue/grey ones. It is a bit more chilly here now, so sweats are nice.
My pain is super bad today. I painted another word on my sign that I've been neglecting. That did not help me at all. Not sure why I did that. I will have to rest for the rest of the day. The reason I might be hurting so bad is that I didn't take my muscle relaxer last night. I wanted to see if it really helps me or not. Apparently it does. So I won't skip that tonight.
Hi to those who have not checked in yet.
