I am sure the specialist will take blood and eliminate anything that could be going on.
Good luck.
It stinks, but at least I found out what it is! I'm 46 (but tell everyone I'm 39, lol) Anyhow, I feel like my fingers look like I'm in my 70's. Maybe I should be like Diane Keaton, and just wear gloves all the time.
Hang in there! Hugs!

Like it was mentioned before a doc can do all of the blood work to rule out RA and lupus.
Best wishes to you

Best wishes!
I have a hard time getting a good grip on things with my fingers. The pain is so bad somethings I will soak them in hot water and them put something cold on them. Best thing is keep them moving. I will strech them all day long (opening and closing my hands).
I work on a computer all day long, it gets very hard sometimes to type.
Good Old Fibro effects us in so many ways. Its scary sometimes when I have another pain in a new place "Is it my Fibro or is it something else? " I hate going to the doctor for every new pain so I just blame it on the Fibro.
Hope you find some relief..
Good pain management is important. Do see a rheumy and maybe, a neurologist. My neurologist turned out to be a friend of my kids in 4th grade!! Too funny. But he did diagnose my carpal and my tremors. I'm 72 and don't expect to feel as I once did. Still, with Fibro, pain management is crucial as is good drs. that "get" you and visa versa.
I now have it going on with my feet. The joy!
About two years ago around this time I had xrays done on my fingers because I swore there were shards of glass in between my joints. Nothing had shown up.
Last year was quite the same.
This year, not so much...joint pain, but nothing that stops me in my tracks like years before.
The swelling though, may indicated that you are living with something in addition to the fibro like many of us do. Could be a form of arthritis, or maybe Raynauds syndrome , could even be Lymes disease too. It's best to have it evaluated, take photos and document. Even if you have to take a video of them, do it. Have "evidence" for your physician.
In the mean time, do what you can to comfort your hands. Sometimes warm water helps mine, or just moving them through the pain. I don't know much beyond that except how to suffer.
