Tim and I don't celebrate Valentine's day anymore after our disaster about 5 yrs ago. A nice night out ended up costing us nearly $500.
Needless to say, we now celebrate Sweetest's Day on Oct 20 instead.
You did good keeping you cool though. Good for you.
Hubby and I don't celebrate Valentine's day ether, after 23 years of being together. The only thing I would ask for was a box of chocolates, lol but this year, I can't eat chocolate's any more, and not into the fake sugar ones. We did in the earlier years, all ways cost too much and would usually end bad. :-(
Sending you warm, caring thoughts, Sherrall
Hope your feeling better.
Did you actually talk to his mom?
I don't think we've ever had a certified disaster for V-Day, but we got out of the habit of celebrating it years ago, and usually just choose to spend a quiet evening at home. This time, we planned to have fondue, which we usually reserve for company, just for the two of us.
The day kind of got away from us, and we decided to put that off and watch a movie at home.
I guess the important thing for us is that we say "I love you" every day, and we have such an amazing relationship (don't be envious - it took me four times to get it right LOL) that we just don't need to "celebrate" it just because there is a particular day set aside for it.
I'm sorry you had such a sh**ty evening and I hope he comes to his senses and realizes what a wonderful Valentine you are.
I'm sure you two will sort things out.
The fondue story reminded me of the time I decided to have my first fondue dinner. Well, I overfilled the metho underneath and didn't think much of the fact I had spilled it..... until I lit the damn thing and the tablecloth underneath caught fire, lol. oops!
i guess y'all are right about not celebrating it. thanks for letting me know that you don't, it helps me feel better about the decision lol.
lol about the fondue stories! and thanks for all the hugs and care... you all rock! this is the best place to come to when i feel like crap.
and he says I never see his side of the situation. HA! he never sees my side. always wants me to listen to him, since he thinks he's the expert. bah....we're both unemployed, like no money, and he's talkin' he wants a kid...NOW. I called him an idiot! told him it wouldn't be fair to bring a kid in to this, when I have no healthcare, and no money. he just refuses to listen what's goin' on in my head! argh, he's pissin' me off so badly!
Rap, i'm sorry you been throwing up and stuff... sounds brutal. but i would rather be in your situation than be in a bad argument like the one we had. those stress me out too much. the next day my pulse was 120 just sitting down! God only knows what it was when i was going up the stairs. good thing i'll be seeing the cardiologist soon, to figure out what's wrong.
Zee and everyone else, thanks for for being so supportive. it's nice to know that i'm not alone in having a disastrous v-day. though i'm not quite sure if that's supposed to be a good thing or bad thing lol.
