Feeling failure-ish?
Winston Churchill was ousted into political exile after 1915, but roared back to lead the UK through WW2.
Abraham Lincoln never met a failure he couldn't achieve, then became President of the US during its Civil War!
Harry S. Truman was twice POTUS and mostly broke, as was Ulysses S. Grant, whose only success again came during war. (Some poeple seemed designed for war leadership and then... pffizzles!)
But Andre Agassi, arguably one o f the greats in tennis, plummeted to 141 in the rankings before he bounced back to win the French Open IIRC in 1999.
Joe Theismann infamously had his career ended by a broken leg... but became a sportscaster instead and did THAT, which was far safer.
While it went well the first time, the Spartans regretted it later, alas. Philip 2 of Macedon said to them "If I win this war, I will destroy your lands and crops" (etc.). Reportedly, Sparta said in reply, "IF". Philip and his son, Alexander the Great, both left Sparta alone. Anecdotal as this is, it's a good summary of Sparta. These are the same ones who told the Persians, "If you want our weapons, take them from us". (Which they sorta kinda lost big in that battle, it being the famous "Spartan 300" but realistically Sparta led all the Greek-speaking city-states against Persia.)

I'm exhausted, woke up before 2 am and couldn't get back to sleep. Unfortunately I'm working today...I may end up working alone tomorrow because Karen is sick. I'm not going to tell anyone that I'm off Thursday because I don't want to be called in. I won't be surprised if Karen calls out tomorrow or Thursday, or both. Possibly next week too. On Thursday I want to get some stuff done because I have to go to Leominster Saturday and Sunday. And I just need a break from working 50 hours a week.
I worked this morning. It was my last minute client who travels a lot. He's using some sort of litter that tracks everywhere. I'm hoping that he is just using it up. It makes a h*ll of a mess. I had to vacuum a lot of the apartment to clean it up. It was a lot.
I came home to deal with some laundry. Then headed back out again for a minute.
My final run of the day was to Target and then Lowes. We are supposed to be getting a bucket of rain tomorrow. I do have to work. I just didn't want to be out and running around doing extra stuff in a monsoon.
Leo - I hope that the pain doc was helpful. I had a chat with my shrink today. She reupped my anxiety medication for 3 months this time. I was glad about that.
Miki - You do need a break from working so many hours. I hope that you have a relaxing evening.
