fibro fog has kicked in ..........it seems like i posted this before but ????????? anyway......
when i can remember to do this it usually helps some :
find a quiet, comfortable spot to kick back, choose a word or phrase that you can associate with relaxation (i don't have much imagination, mine's "relax" =) )
take slow, deep breaths while repeating the word/phrase
now, imagine that you're pushing the pain and tension out from the part in your hair clear down through your body and out your fingertips and the tips of your toes. kinda like pouring warm water over yourself , only you're doing it from the inside-out and flushing all the junk out with it.
i know that it's hard to consentrate on anything but, i think the more you do it the better you'll get at it. before my memory got so bad that i'd forget to do, it i'd gotten to the point where just repeating the word to myself would remind my body that it was possible to relax.
maybe put a note by your favorite bed/recliner to remind you
well, that's my 2 cents.
hope it helps somebody

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
Hugs to you,Have a Great Day :)
I think its finding time to be still and relax thats the problem but youve convinced me that I should make time. thanks. x
chris,
don't think you're doing anything wrong. it can stress ya out trying to relax, can't it? =)
maybe give it a try while soaking in the tub or take a seat into the shower with you. maybe have someone give you a massage and try it.
try praying about it first, that almost always helps me feel better on some level.
i know what works for one won't work for everyone but don't give up.
i'll be praying for you
Add in deep breathing, concentrate on the breathing helps also
I often find myself hugging my painful area after laughing and when it is done, it feels lighter. So, in the beginning, what you are saying is true for those of us who are in tensed state even while relaxing.
It takes practice to find the direction to send the flames out, and bring in the soothing waterfalls. The reason waterfalls work for me is due to the spasms I feel as I attempt to relax in the beginning.
Best wishes to all in finding the calm.
One of my favorites is to practice "Mindfulness", close your eyes, take in a deep breath (fill your belly, then mid-section, then all the way up to whatever feels like the top for you), exhale.... do this 2-3 times... just observe...
feel your feet on the floor... no right... no wronge... just observe,
feel your back against the chair... no right/no wronge... just observe,
How does your breath feel... no right/no wronge... just observe,
Let the thoughts flow thru your mind, don't focus on them just let them come in and drift out.... no right/no wronge... just observe,
Is there tension in your muscles... no right/no wronge... just observe,
Breath into the tension.... no right/no wronge... just observe,
Feel the energy surrounding you.... no right/no wronge... just observe,
listen to the sounds of life... no right/no wronge... just observe,
I think you can get the idea. It has taken me a long time to even be able to accept that "no right/no wronge... just observe" is even possible, but it is and it is worth every moment I have spent working to find it. I hope you find your own way of relaxing.
Gentle hugs.... SG
YouTube also has alot of videos for meditation or visualization....
We all need to remember to relax more often
