Seriously, a long-time relationship with a doctor can make a lot of difference when you're asking for something they're not experienced with. I've been with my PCP for over 20 years and he knows me well but still feels compelled to give his two word speech when he renews my Vicodin - "be careful." To which I respond "yeah yeah yeah" and he said "you know I have to say it to cover my butt" and he gets another "yeah yeah yeah."

It's not that either one of us don't take it seriously - it's just that we've been doing this for a LONG LONG time and the conversation kind of has itself without our intervention these days.

LOL, my version of street drugs: go up the street and get some mega dose of chocolate! (the vino, however, I do like my reds. gotten to be a connoisseur of the under $14 bottles.)

I will definitely keep you up to date on if, how, and when I take the LDN. From what I've read, I am SOLD on it's benefits.

Its great that you have a relationship like this with your doc and rather than your doc turning you down on the therapy he is willing to read the info you brought in for him to read. That is wonderful. Like everyone else here...let us know if you get the ok.

argh. Ok, left a message for doc asking if he'd been able to review the papers I left him. Got a message back that he is reluctant to prescribe since it's not approved. Soooo, I will go in to talk with him armed with some arguments about how MANY meds are prescribed off label, and we'll see... if he won't, I will move on to a list of docs I have, and could go see if need be. DIdn't want it to be this difficult but why wouldn't it be?

Hopefully doc will be ok with it. My doc wasn't and I just asked one of the docs I work with to prescribe it ; - ) I took my first dose last night after researching it a bunch. We'll see. I shall keep posting progress. I hope you are able to try it out!

Oops, I missed your latest post. He didn't prescribe it! Go back at him with the argument that Naltrexone in high doses IS approved. Low dose Naltrexone is not going to hurt even if it doesn't help! LOL What a silly. I am sorry you have to deal with that. I know how that is. You could see a naturopathic doctor if you have the wherewithal. They carry LDN in their offices sometimes. They carried the natural thyroid supplement I went on. They will treat you as a whole instead of treating just a symptom. You have to be your own advocate these days. I absolutely hate that a doctor thinks they can dictate your healthcare. Grrr. Ok, jumping off soapbox. Sending good thoughts your way...

Hope things will work out well for you. Excited reading initial post, and aggravated at reading the last one that he would not prescribe. After all that I've read and researched, it sounds very promising. It had been mentioned for me awhile back, but I can't recall what the reason that we decided it wasn't a good fit at that time. When I can get to my files, I will review, but they are in storage right now. Wishing you good luck and I believe that it will help.

Noticed where they posted about the vino- before you get on it, try Chocovine- I think that's correct name. It's Chocolate Flavored Red Wine made in Holland, and it's wonderful. One of my docs told me that people even told him that it helped with the pain- chocolate and red wine are supposed to both be beneficial- so while you still can- might want to try it. Total Wine has it for $ 10.99 p/b- best price I've found.

ROFL, shellseeker! I love that kinda recommendation! I'll definitely look that up at Total Wine! When I read labels for wine, I like the ones that have a chocolate hint, tobacco hint.. so that is right up my alley! :-)

Well, doc didn't say he WON"T. I specifically asked the nurse who called me with his message: "does this mean he absolutely won't, or he'll discuss it with me if I come in?" she said to come in and discuss it. So I'm still a little bit hopeful, but I'll seek another avenue if he won't.
