I cried most of the way home.
I can't give up, I want some energy back.
you know your body. there could be some underlying issue, that they haven't checked
hang in there!
I have only had one appt with my new Dr - so we will see how it goes. At least I didnt leave her office feeling bad. I purposely picked a female dr - hoping to find more compassion .
There are NO meds that will cure this, not many that make us feel better and precious few that do more good than harm. I've been navigating this illness better without the benefit of doctors. I wish I had health insurance now because I need to have some lab work done, but otherwise, I feel so much better since I said "no" to the meds.
Many doctors blame the patient because they have no idea how treat fibro and many autoimmune diseases. They play roulette with our care and then when they can do no more....well....they become contentious with us.
Go with your gut and as others have said, perhaps find a new doctor. You might be better off with a osteopathic doctor than a specialist. Specialists have tunnel vision and won't treat you if it's not within their realm of expertise. Osteopaths tend to take in the bigger picture, and thus, may find something that the others missed. That doctor can always refer you to a specialist later.
One other suggestion..... have you had a hormone panel done? Hypothyroidism and weak adrenals are a huge contributor to fatigue. I poo-pooed the idea until one evening there was a lump in my lower throat and it wasn't my glands or tonsils, it was my thyroid. I found a wealth of info on this site:
http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/
They're not selling anything and it has great info even if you want to find out how to support the adrenal glands (which most chronically ill people have issues with). They even have letter suggestions to take to your doctor and also lists the specific blood panel to be done by a lab. Most docs only test the TSH and nothing else as it pertains to the thyroid.
You'd be surprised how many symptoms overlap between fibro and hypothyroidism. Since I've treated myself for the hypothyroidism my fatigue is almost non existent. I was pretty surprised myself and was a nay sayer for a few years.
Only you know if you're on the right track. A good doctor can help.
TheShari I read thru part of the website, I will definately go back to read the rest... Thanks so much.
I get soo tired when I go into see the dr, that by the time I see them I'm already worn out. Maybe I should write them a letter before I go, then it wont matter how tired I am when they finally see me...
I will keep trusting myself, and my dr has agreed to work with me to find someway to help the fatigue.
Thanks again all
I have an appt with the neurologist on Feb 14, 2012 - that was the earliest they could get me in. I don't even know if I should hope they can help. But I need to at least explore this avenue of treatment.
Thanks for the support Toni. When I get really tired, my hubby asks me if I'm going to crawl under a rock and die.
