With FM, we all know that Chronic Fatigue feeling where we could just close our eyes and sleep wherever we are. I have sometimes even felt like doing it while sitting at a stoplight. Fortunately, I haven't. However, when I am at home and the fatigue hits, I often take mid-day naps -- yes, naps, plural. But there seems to be some debate as to whether or not this helps or hurts people with FM. So I am wondering how many others take naps and do you feel it helps you or hurts you? By "hurt" I mean that you experience more pain and fatigue later.

That said? My neuro says never nap more than 30-45 minutes, or it can/ will screw up your nighttime sleep.
I used to be able to take naps and then a couple of yrs ago it started effecting my night time sleep. Even if I take a short nap, no matter how exhausted I feel, it ruins my deep sleep. So now when I'm in zombie mode from sleep deprivation I have to come up with ways to stay awake during the day. Also have to have a very strict sleeping regimen now. Go to bed the same time, wake up the same time, no matter what is going on. I noticed if something happens to disrupt / change this for example I woke up at 4 AM because a neighbor's dog was barking, for the next week I'll be waking up at 4 AM and can't go back to sleep. I hate fibro!
So I think typically naps are good with fm. The only time I would say watch out is if you are not able to sleep at night because of your naps during the day. A healthy night sleep is important.
I hope this helps!
