So this is a bit off topic but if anyone could send good thoughts my dog's way today, that would be great (he's technically my parents' dog, but he was always "my" dog even after I moved out). Last night my parents called me and I almost ignored it because I was in bed, but I picked it up and they told me Brady had gone to the vet today after vomiting for a couple days and eating a little less enthusiastically than usual. The vet found a mass in his cranial abdomen that was pushing on his stomach and spleen, and my parents left with a possible diagnosis of hemangiosarcoma-a very aggressive cancer that's basically a ticking time bomb. I work as a vet tech and in the past 6 months I've seen 2 dogs who likely had this cancer, both of whom came in for sudden collapse caused by internal bleeding. My parents are bringing him to a specialty hospital for an ultrasound sometime today, where they will probably confirm the diagnosis. Treatment options are pretty limited and very risky-most vets don't recommend trying to remove it because the risk of bleeding far outweighs the slim chance of benefiting the dog. So please keep my family in your thoughts/prayers today (especially my parents-they were not expecting such a serious diagnosis). Thanks everyone.
