Well what a stressful week, started a new job on Monday then on Tuesday my car broke down. The job is a 40minute drive from home. After missing work for 2 days and still not having my car back I hired a courtesy car. The car they supplied me caused loads of problems. I drive a Renault espace, chosen specifically because it has such an upright driving position and my knees don't like going from fully stretched to a half bent position. Well not only was the hire car (Vauxhall Astra) very low but the lumbar support continually pushed on tender points, changing gear caused my arm to brush against the seat which hurt and unlike my car which has an automatic handbrake this one was manual and trying to find the strength to keep pulling the brake on was a challenge. I got my car back today and my word am I grateful! I didn't realise until now how fibro friendly my car was! For anyone who struggles with driving or is looking at a new car, be mindful of how the car interacts with your body, you may not realise the small things that cause problems and that with the right car they can be avoided!
Fell in love with the Subaru Forester. Great comfort for my sensitive spots, smooth ride, and for my bad hip? Easy in and out. (I'm tall.) So yeah, the right vehicle with possibly a support cushion? BIG difference!
I'm also a big guy (both in height & width) so their size helps too + I live in a rural area & since they both are 4 wheel drive vehicles that has also been helpful.
But we are outgrowing it. My boys are almost as tall as I am (5-3'' on a good day) and my boys are only 10 & 8yrs old.
My hubs and I are not minivan material, so that leaves us with going with a larger SUV or going for the big boys (trucks).
I've been reading up on everything on the Silverados, F-150s, Rams and I've even looked into Tundra's & MLT (Lincoln).
If anyone has any input on larger SUV's or Trucks, please let me know. We need a full size/ crew size cab for the kids and Tank to ride in. I know mileage is gonna stink, but that is what we have the little VW beetle (diesel) for, that thing gets 50MPG.
