Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.

Good morning. Well, I kinda sorta almost got a good night's sleep,, woke up perky, and myright leg did its disappearing act. Wham! Luckily, the trash can caught me. And it's by RUbbermaid, so it wasn't too painful for me, and the trash can bounced back. (Literally.)
So what's your fantasy today? (Non-sexual, please, keep it clean!)
Mine is that my mom agrees to something that is in her best interest. Of course, that'd make *me* probably have a heart attack... Hmm. Never mind.
Real fantasy: I find the ultimately comfy shoes at a price I can afford so I can buy two pairs! :-)

No word on missing kitty from neighbor, so we're.. well, he's not home, so we'll leave it at that.
Other cats are doing fine, as is the lizard, a tortoise (? Bit early in the year for them to come up to my place for the mulch pile, but okay?), this little dachshund that thinks my periwinkle is a Doggie Play Zone, and is hilarious b/c he's smaller than it is tall, and you can't see anything but his ears and tail tip. The cats find that fascinating, btw. Lil Miss sits on the fence and just *watches* like she's either planning the dog's demise or wondering why a giant dog-smelling rat is walking around. She's a bit odd that way. Shadow just sleeps onward. Not much bugs him as long as he gets his sunbeams, at his age.

I won't reveal too much, but there's a rally by men in pointy white hoods coming up in my area in another week. I'm scared to pieces but am signing up to do an hour-long shift at the park for Love Against Hate via a collection of local churches and other organizations.
In the 1920s and 1930s, the KKK was known to burn Catholic churches, white skin be damned. They also supported the sterilization of whites who weren't politically acceptable (poor whites trying to form unions, or who hung out with non-whites). Nice folks, eh? Ironically, btw, some of the modern haters would've been considered "not the right white" 100 years ago. *headdesk* History loves a good joke.
So why do they call it "fracking"? Sci-fi nuts know that's the F-word substitute in Syfy cable channel's reboot of "Battlestar Galactica" TV series a while back. Technically, "fracking" in oil and gas industry is short for "hydraulic fracturing", a process in which water (fresh water, drinkable water, agri-friendly water!) is wasted along with sand and chemicals (ack) into fissures in shale beds that contain oil and/or natural gas. The pressure of that crap forces the gas to the surface. Also any oil, should it exist, as oil is known to "float" on water, btw, but usually natural gas is the goal.
I think, personally, they love to use "fracking" b/c the nerds were watch the TV show, and "f*cking" up the earth is what this does.
Why do I say that? Well, mix sand, water, and, say, some household bleach in equal parts. Now force it, under pressure through a hose, into a crack in your sidewalk. At a safe distance, which is why Fracking is done by *wells*, not human hands. Guess what? Groundwater contamination. Unstable rock. (Fracking is directly linked to Oklahoma's frequent little baby earth tremors, so common now that nobody notices anything under a 3 on the Richter scale.) Now, imagine that sludge bubbling back at you is in a pipeline, flowing along with *more* bleach (in our home thought experiment), in the gas pipeline...
But they say the pipelines aren't a hazard. Except, of course, to *forests*. And soil. And fields. And... Wait, what?!
I say all that to say this: When the pipelines leak? What comes out looks like the worst gray sludge you can imagine, and it will kill wetlands, forests, etc., no problem. Why do I care? I grew up where l ittle gas wells and oil wells were common people's properties, and if they leaked? The solution was a fixture from the hardware store, and a match to burn off the "spill". This from utility employees, btw. The fix these days? Contain the spills with sandbags! or other physical barriers. Try that on mountains, where I live, and you can see why we're not thrilled to have a pipeline trying to move on through. By the time they get to their spill, it'll already be in our reservoirs and rivers. Even better? We don't get the natural gas. It's going to end up about 500 miles away. Could my area use affordable natural gas? Yep. Where's it going? Greater Newark, New Jersey, apparently...
Now, why is this so bad? Inexpensive natural gas! Well, aside from contaminating water, wasting water, and the chemical sludge issue... and the earthquakes from causing instability in bedrock... Umm... When the shales give up the last bit of petroleum product, the toxic sludge remains.
Considerr that the stuff in the pipelines is equivalent to trisodium phosphate (TSP), a cleanser you can get at the home improvement store to remove the thick creosote-grease left behind by fires in your home. At best. They're "patented", so no one knows what they really are until there's a spill. Toluene and benzene have been reported.
Toluene and benzene are so hazardous that inhaling their fumes can cause seizures, anemia, dizziness, unconsciousness, let alone ingestion of them (neurological is primary, then kidney issues). We all get some minor exposure (car exhaust can contain toluene, as can paint thinners, nail polish), but this is not stuff you want in any quantity other than "minor and not repeated". Or you can have permanent damage.
Back in chem, pre-med, I used thsoe in organic chem lab. Fully geared up. All it took was one person being clumsy (hungover), and we evacuated the lab and had to take emergency showers. Yep, fun stuff to dump into water. *facepalm*
I'll shut up now, but seriously, I can't legally put solar panels on my house b/c the power ocmpany here bought all rights to that and wind power even offshore (?!), but they can sned that stuff through a pipeline through forests and across rivers where people live. Sure, no problem. OMG. And we wonder why we have fibro and other weird ailments? Ack!
Now, you don't have to be an enviro-nut like me (third generation!) to know... you shouldn't shit in your well, to quote my Polish grandpa.
So when you hear about fracking... Now you know too much. Apologies for being a ranting nerd. I just cringe to think that even with Clean Water and Clean Air laws, we're still risking this damage ot us and our food and our water and our children. *sigh*

OK, off to ... uh... how is it there's laundry again? Self-washing clothing! Now *there* is a fantasy!
Blessings on all!

Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. I have group therapy this morning from 9-noon. Then Quincy has to go to the vet at 2pm. My yesterday afternoon was not so calm after all. I had to go back to town to watch my granddaughter. My daughter got really sick and the ob gyn was concerned so she had to go to the hospital. Found out she has a bad stomach type virus and has to stay in bed for a couple of days. Better than what they first thought, which was pre-eclampsia (sp?)
Two more nights by myself, then I pick up hubby at the airport late Sunday night. He bought my ticket for my trip in August, so I will be in NM from the 8th-22nd. I already found a lady that will take Quincy if hubby has to travel. So glad he won't have to go to a kennel.
Talk to ya later. Thanks so much for all of your support.
Ida-I hope your fantasy comes true, too. Also that your daughter feels better soon. Good to hear it's not pre eclampsia too.
Running on 3 hours of sleep...I can leave early today because I'm working tomorrow morning though. I need to tell this guy about my issues today. We went back to his apartment after playing pool last night, and nothing happened that I was uncomfortable with, but I'd rather tell him before that happens and I become an anxious mess. And assuming he wants to keep seeing me, we're going out again Sunday. Appointments are about to start so I gotta go be somewhat productive, hugs to everyone
Ahhh....Friday! Kinda feel like I made it up creek w/out a paddle. But looking back at it all, the creek wasn't too deep after all and I just hiked through it all.
Poor analogy, but kinda true all in the same.
I am on the hunt for a pod/storage unit. We have so many boxes in our garage. And it's not stuff I'm willing to part with, but I don't want to be sifting through it all and finding a new place for it here in the house either. And there is going to be construction on our street here soon. They are "using" up the front yard for a bike/hiking trail. You know that 30" of easement that you pay for, but they own?
Not too fond of this idea. We have a retaining wall/flower box out front that will be inches away. I could see someone now crashing into it and since it will be "our property" we will get sued. We also need to relocate our mail box to the house again. Since the trail will be inches away from that as well.
Anyways, it's also going to eat up 1/3 of our driveway. I have a hill on one side of the driveway and retaining wall on the next. Just enough room for two cars to be side by side (w/out opening the doors). So...we need our garage again. And that means I need a storage unit. Gotta start making some calls. At this point, it just might be cheaper to build my own shed, LOL.
Leo, Andypants is working with his tutor on a research project about seismic activity. They are researching the "great" earthquakes, but also even looking into how animals are effected by them. Upon their research, they found that just a few months ago, there was a suspected earthquake (not yet confirmed by the pros) The local pros believe it was so they are sending off their data to be confirmed. But for a month or two, they blamed a fracking business near by since the quake happened moments after a blast. So far, data has concluded that it was not directly related. And to put it all in laymens terms, it was nothing more than a earth burp. You pump air into the earths belly and what do you expect?
Hmm, now for my fantasy? (I'm hearing "Da Plane- Da Plane" off in a distance). That chocolate had zero calories! And there was a chocolate buffet sitting in my kitchen. And I could wiggle my nose and my housework would be done. (I need to start watching more modern Tv sitcoms).
Ida, wow, that's quite a scare for your daughter. I hope she begins to feel better soon. But glad it wasn't anything more serious.
Today I have the domestic stuff to do. Like my momma used to say, I can want in one hand and poop in the other and see which one fills up the fastest.
I never liked that saying. Because if I wrote my wants out....they'd fill up faster....for dang sure! LOL
And we finally got check #1 along with check #3. Kermit the frog waves!! Yeahhhh!
Hope everyone has a great Friday today!
I hope your talk goes well with this guy. Something tells me that he's a good one. And yah for getting off of work early today!
Fantasy? Finally building our dream home and having a proper art studio. Right now I'm working in the dining room.
Leo, I agree with you about fracking. Since my family is from WV, I've seen how beauty and nature are destroyed for greed.
Ida, such wise words for Miki. Well said. It's wonderful that you are available to help your daughter.
Miki, enjoy the weekend and don't try to plan out the talk. It will be fine.
Wonder, sounds like you have quite a situation to deal with. You'll find what you need.
The rain is killing me. I knew that I get stressed around people, but having that week to myself has made it very apparent that so much of my stress in my home is related to my son. Teenage years. What fun.
My hands and arms are hurting but life calls. Have a good one, it's Friday,
Leo, I completely agree with the fracking and what we are doing to our Earth. It makes perfect sense that we have fibro and an increase in so many autoimmune diseases. Fantasy would be eating all the sweets I want with no weight gain or sugar high. haha
ida, I love your advice for Miki. It sounds like you have a great trip planned for August. I hope your daughter gets to feeling better.
Miki, I hate the 3 hour days, they are so hard. I hope you safely make it through the day. I'm praying about the talk, but most importantly I'm praying for your anxiety.
Wonder, it sucks that they are putting a trail in your yard. I would hate that. I hope you find a good pod/storage unit.
Bobbi, I think we are going to get some rain this weekend, I hate the additional pain too. It sounds like you should have a talk with your son. I hope your arm and hand pain don't hinder you too much.
My anxiety is very high, pain is high, I feel like crawling in bed and not coming out all weekend. Maddie sounds a little stuffy, but I think her back is feeling a little better. No fever as of this morning, and she played more last night. I hope she is done with whatever she had.
Have a great day!
Ida, that is a good fantasy and I hope it happens soon. I am happy you were there for your daughter and that it is just a virus. I am glad you have someone to take care of Quincy. We usually have someone stay with our dog too. When I get a new one she is going to become acclimated at my bff’s house so we don’t have to pay someone to stay at ours. But I want a dog that can pretty much go in my purse wherever I go. lol I hope your day goes well and as planned.
Miki, I think you will feel much more comfortable once you tell him about your issues (I hate that word). It sounds like you must have had a great time last night to only have gotten 3 hours sleep. I hope you can go home early today and catch up on whatever you need to do.
Wonder, storage units tend to be expensive, in my opinion. You could probably build a shed much cheaper over the short haul. I don’t think it would take many months to pay for it vs storage. I am sorry they are taking your front yard away. That would drive me crazy. I love your fantasies! They are perfect. Yay for the checks!! My mom always said that I had “champaign (sp??) taste and a beer pocket”. Both of my kids have that too!! Have a good day.
Hi Bobbi. I am sorry you have been in so much pain lately. I sure hope hubby gets your chairs for you. After all, they won’t be much to move to do the deck, when he gets to doing it. I 100% get the teenage son stress and can commiserate with you. Boys! UGH! I hope you do manage a decent weekend.
I went home yesterday. I took a Vicoden and muscle relaxer and rested for 5 hours. Then I went to the food tent as a zombie. I made it through the 2 hours and then ate dinner, took a shower and went to bed. That was all I had. I feel better today, for the most part. I see the neuro today at 3:45. Not sure what good it will do, but anyways. Still waiting for USAA to pay off the camper. Apparently they sent a paper check instead of ACH to the bank. I swear they don’t make anything easy. I am starting to fade fast today. Oh, my fantasy would be early retirement with the income I currently have. Pretty much a pipe dream. Oh, I would also like hubby to have a 4 door truck and not just the extended cab since Morgan is 5’9” and Sonny nearing 6’.
Blue, it has rained for about 24 of the last 30 days or something crazy like that. I don’t mean down pour, but rain. The corn is loving it. However, it seems like the farms are having a hard time getting they hay off from the fields because of this. I hope your therapy went well. What did the podiatrist say?
Twin, my doc used to always give me a prescription for the kids and say if it they don’t feel better in few days to fill it. This way I didn’t have to take them back in, but we had something if it wasn’t a virus. About 50% of the time we ended up filling it. I hope Maddie is feeling better and that you are doing okay today too.
Hugs to everyone.
And I apologize for incomplete/inaccurate details caused by doing this at 7 AM, using broad terms, while fuming that the bloody stupid pipeline is gonna leak into our national forests and rivers. They all leak. Always. It's inescapable. I know b/c we'd have to light a match and check our tap water for *natural gas* when we lived in Ohio. The underground "safe pipeline" got into the water. Realllllly disturbing to need to do that!
*kicks DS's backside* Fetch that back end ya bastards!
Ida, oh, that's a good fantasy! Healing to your daughter, strength prayer for you:-)
Wonder, how do you get a bike path out of easement so tiny? That's the standard front door width... On the ohter hand, less driveway to shovel when it snows? (I suck at the silver linings today.)
Miki, if he freaks, then he wasn't going to stick around anyway, okay? Don't stress, and get some good lseep if you can.
Bobbii, that pain of yours has got to back the heck up.
Bball, you only have extended cab with extended kids? THat's not good... Crash helmets? Foam on the ceiling of the cab?
Twin, big healing hugs and rest ot you and yours.
Blue, Kel, everyone else (Shakota, Sonya, et al.): Keeping you in heart-mind!
My fantasy is to not be so tired all the time so I’ll have energy to do things. I did cut down my Lyrica so I’m only taking it at night. I feel a little better.
Leo, that’s so sad about the neighbor’s cat. Poor thing. I just love cats. I have four and they are all so different. They’re so fun to watch. That KKK stuff is scary. I’m from Parkersburg, WV and I went into a friend’s house and they had KKK stuff hanging all over the place. I guess his dad was high up in that area of the KKK. It was really weird. We didn’t talk about it.
Ida, I hope your daughter gets well soon. I’m sure that was scary.
Miki, good luck with the talk. At least afterwards you’ll know one way or the other if you scared him off or not.
Wonder, that’s terrible about the bike/hiking trail. It sounds like a lot of trouble to get ready for the construction. Yay about the checks! What a relief that must have been.
Twin, I hope you get rest this weekend. And so glad that Maddie is feeling better.
BBmom, glad you got some rest yesterday and feeling better today.
Leo, I agree about the trouble with fracking. We really need to be using more renewable energy sources. It’s just greed and not caring about the Earth and how it’s left after all the mining/drilling/fracking. I’m from WV and I’ve seen the mountaintop removal for mining and it’s just so sad to see. The mining companies have the WV people so blinded. Makes me so mad.
Blue, so glad that your horse therapy went so well yesterday. I just love horses but I’m not nearly as comfortable on them as my daughter. That’s too bad about why your husband got so angry yesterday. It sounds like counseling might help so he can better explain to you what he thinks you’re saying before he gets mad and throws the plates away. Good luck with that.
I’m doing okay today. I’m glad it’s Friday so I can hopefully get some rest today. Someone brought in donuts to work today and thought I’d eat one, but now my tummy is saying that was too much gluten. Oh well. Hopefully it will feel better soon.
Hope everyone has a great day.
Susan
Leo I totally agree with the fracking thing. I am sick of big money destroying everything for a buck. Your fantasy about laundry would be wonderful. Now that I have to take mine down to the laundry room provided by the apts instead of using my own.
Ida we are on the same wavelength on fantasies. I am glad your daughter is not in danger but hope she gets better soon. It is miserable to be sick when pregnant. I hope your therapy today is good and that you get some time to rest after. I am glad that Quincy has someone to take him while you go on your trip.
Miki I feel for you with the not sleeping. Maybe once you have the conversation with your guy you will be able to let down enough to really sleep. Never measure yourself by your illness or your issues. You have so much to give and are such a caring person that anyone that can't see that doesn't deserve you.
Wonder I hate that they are going to tear up your yard. It isn't right that they can eat up part of what you pay for. I agree with others that it would be cheaper in the long haul to build a storage unit than to use a store it.
Morning Bobbii. I feel for you with the rain and pain. I hope that both let up today.
Twin I hope Maddie is on the mend. It sounds like you could use several days to just hide away and rest. I pray your anxiety take a hike today and let you have a breather.
BBmom I hope your pain lets up some so you can have a day filled with peace and rest. It sounds like the camper thing is never ending. I hope you get it soon.
I am in so much pain from the waist down I want to scream. I could barely get out of bed this morning and after two hours I am still so stiff I can't bend. It is going to be hot today and that isn't going to make it easier. I hope you all have a great weekend filled with simple joys.
My fantasy is to have a cleaning maid, chef, teleportation device, perfectly supportive shoes and a happy gut (ibs? what ibs?).
Susan, donuts!! I would love to eat them (and sometimes I cut one in half) but it's the sugar that gets me. We don't ride the horses at therapy... we learn to groom and "train" them. Every therapy is personalized to the veteran and their disabilities. One guy comes there just to do some stretching exercises with the horse. I usually work with mine in the round pen similar to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=StGIS4XUcCE
Saw the podiatrist yesterday... he examined my ankles and said the R has nerve damage. That's the zings and zaps I've been feeling. He said that I'm double jointed and when I walk / stand the bones in my ankles and feet move around (out of place) and now they are GROWING out of place. It's caused inflammation and nerve damage.
He taped up my ankle and foot (that you see the athletes wearing in all different colors?) and said I should be wearing custom orthotics at all times (indoor house slippers aren't good enough) and is putting some paperwork into the VA for some. He wanted to give me an ankle brace, but I told him because I have fibro braces usually cause more pain from my experience.
I'm really glad I'll be getting a new PCP this coming month... when I complained about my ankle to the last guy, he basically said it was all in my head ("Just leave it alone and it will go away.") I was ticked after finding out I had nerve damage after that scumbag PCP argued to say there was nothing wrong with me. So glad I canned his good for nothing a**.
I also got mom a pill organizer. She was happy I did something so nice for her lol.
The night cooled off last night.... it was a nice change from the heat lately. I even wore long pants to bed. Our plans are to go to a beach today and then I have my hair appt tonight to 1. finish bleaching 2. do the red, white and blue dyes. Just in time for the July 4 parade and rodeo tomorrow! :)
Back in a sec.
bbmom, that's a great fantasy, I want that too. :-) Thanks, I'm glad to know other doctors do that too.
Susan, thanks! I love donuts, but I'm with you, I prefer gluten free.
Autumn, thanks for the prayers. I pray you get some relief and that you can enjoy some simple joys.
Thanks Leo!! ((hugs))
