Good morning.
I got nothin'. Mom wants to revoke POA and we see the lawyer today and she is going to say we coerced her into filing bankruptcy, but she's $70K in debt and only has, oh, a fourth of that amount in *gross* income every year in retirement, but hey! We're horrible people and she doesn't want to go to jail. Don't ask. The post-tumor paranoia means she cannot be reasoned with. I just have to watch the train wreck. Again. She has little impulse control, so her environment has to be quasi-controlled by others, and if she's full in charge of her finances? She'll rack up more debt, cash out her *one* remaining reitrement fund in a panic to pay off enough to avoid court, and then be stuck with only Social Security, and then what? Right. Been here, seen this tree, y'know? Hubby is sure he can convince her to not do this, b/c I'm still her kid and her target, and my input is worthless. It's official. I have a teenager...

Things I want to see happen:
1. US Congress have their healthcare repealed without notice or replacement options provided. Overnight. Like, now. Welcome to *my* world. I'm only insured via an ACA exchange. They repeal, and I lose a big chunk of my IRA paying for coverage at highest rates (pre-existing and PTSD, oh boy) *if* I can get coverage at all!... until I can go on Hubby's job-provided insurance (APril). But no one is even givin gme options for insruance. Nobody wants to, until they see what happens. Ummm.... Do the words "backup plan" just not exist when you get past a certain level in corporate thinking? (I know they don't in politics. Duh. History shows us that.) I'm already struggling to pay with the ACA exchange, b/c my state was one of the dumb ones. (WHen Kentucky outperforms your state, you know it's bad. No offense to Kentuckians. Just sayin'.)
2. An option on phone trees that is "If you have no idea what th ehell we're talking about, please press six." Yes!
3. News to stop reporting on health sciences in less than 90 seconds. It's medical science. If you can sum it up in less than 90 seconds, odds are you've left out something important, unless it's "Eat less, move more."
4. Someone to explain to me how the heck a "transgender" bathroom will work, b/c I'm sure not volunteering to check DNA versus genitals versus clothing choices. I mean, do we need to pass a quiz before we can just use the rest stop on th einterstate?! Go through an X-ray? WTH? I gotta go! Let me in! Eek! (I predict such laws, btw, will result in a lot of trees being "watered"....)
5. An end to marshmallows cut like cubes. I'm sorry, that just looks like tofu, and it's wrong. Ew.
6. Someone to admit that sugar-free caffine-free cola is really just caramel-colored fizzy water. (Ahem. Hubby!)
7. An explanation for why putting out three bowls for three cats results in three cats trying to all eat from one bowl.

And on that note, gotta prepare for a long day of Mom-wrangling. Blesings on your day and thank you for letting me rant a bit.

Hiya My internet is changing today and I'm not sure how long the switch over will take, I'm hoping 24 hours at the most, but I'm probably being too optimistic We are changing to another company and going full fibre for the internet. But at least it's changing to the one payment rather than the payment for the home landline phone and a payment for the internet. So I'm not going to be on here...

Bobbie, hope your conference goes well. You are a gem for going through all of that.
twinmom, I hope you make it home safely today...and glad your girls are home already. My back is quite a bit better...thanks for asking.
Blue, so sorry for how your husband is treating you. He sure doesn't get it at all. I pray for God's will in all of this. It's hard to see you suffer so much.
bbmom, sorry you are feeling so bad. They have to get to the bottom of this soon. Prayers for you.
Well, got my dishes done, laundry folded and put away, and the house picked up. All set for tonight if our friends come over.
Hubby told me to go ahead and contact the realtor to get things moving on selling our house. She is coming over for another walk through on Tuesday. So glad we are finally settled on this. It looks like we will probably rent at first. I'm fine with that.
Good day to all.
I'm exhausted. Leo, I am sorry that your Mom is off of the rails again. I'm with you on the phone tree idea.
ACA will cost in excess of 25 billion to replace/fix. Not saying it doesn't need revisions. Just saying somebody had to eat the cost.
I'm sorry that everyone continues to struggle with family issues, weather, pain, health and life in general. I will try to check back later when I can see what I am doing on my Kindle. Hugs!
Miki, sorry your doc took his frustrations out on the patients today (including you). So not cool! And your ex stole your dream vacations?! (Throws mud at his head). Just know none if it's your fault today and it's all them. ((hugs)) I hope you have a better weekend.
It's because hospital ERs have to treat everyone that they're having financial problems treating people who don't have insurance, and can't pay the bill.
The alternative are private quasi-ERs. And for profit emergent care clinics...that don't have to treat everyone.
What that means is that public ERs get even fewer paying customers. So more shut down. ....Thus...the longer trips to the hospital.
The world was different 20 years ago when many, many, many more people got insurance through their employer. Now manufacturing is all over seas. (Trust me, even Pres Elect Trump won't be able to bring it back as health care costs are going to rise even faster than whatever penalties he slaps on will be...)
There was something on the news about less than half of Americans having an extra $500 for unexpected expenses... It's gotten bad, and it's getting worse.
BB, oh geez.... I'd feed you if I could!
Lawyer refused to let mom revoke POA, based onhis experience o fhis own wife after *her* brain tumor (whew!) but it was an ordeal nonetheless. We're breaking every rule by ordering pizza, but I literally cannot think enough to be trusted to cook. *fizzle* goes my brain....
Prayers for everyone....
Patti, OMG, I know.... Without the ACA, we'd never have gotten a third ER open here, b/c the ACA subsidized the ER. (It's not just about the health insurance.)
Meanwhile... The costs had to go somewhere, and it's all tangled up in hosopital care networks, insurers, workplace insured, self-insured, not-insured, etc., and a ot of the fixes could be done without wholesale destruction....
And that reminds me. Hellday or not, I have to find out who'll insure me until I can go on Hubby's plan, and how much his premium will go up b/c of me being on it, which is *another* way companies are getting around providing health insurance benefits. Make it too pricey for an employee to have anyone else on the plan.... A majuor employer here did this in 2011, only dependent kids under 18 could be on the employee's plan, and it left literally a thousand or so people out of insurance b/c they were married to someone working at that employer. Just boom, bang, overnight, gone. THey had 30 days. And we all know how fast paperwork goews....
Got severe fibro fog, and caught my daughter’s cold, but wanted to check in and let you all know that i’m thinking and praying for everyone (including those following :).
And Blue, I cannot believe your husband! What a jerk. I love Leo’s idea of sending him to her husband for training. Lion Boot Camp! Mine can join, but he’s been better the last couple of years since a therapist we went to, who wasn’t swayed by his BS, told him it was best he move out and stop abusing me. Prayers for you.
Leo, enjoy the pizza (it turns into health food, right, after anxiety-ridden days). Glad the lawyer knew what he was doing.
Prayers and hugs for everyone to have a nice weekend.
