Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.

Good morning. It's been a long, rotten, horrible, no-good night on every front imaginable except for the fact our plumbing works. Yay!
Point 1. We still are getting fleas. And nobody knows why, includign pest control. So today they're going to see if the glue board they put in the chimney shows signs of critters, and if so, we somehow have a critter in our chimney despite it being capped and so forth.... If no critter, then we're a fuc*ing mystery and make Westworld look normal. Oh rapture.
Point 2. Mom may have Barrett's esophagus. And she may go blind in her left eye while we're waiting for eye doctors, but hey, the GI doc is always there... *sigh*
Point 3. I'm over 45, and my girl cycles are starting to flare into "Every 14 days, you'll hate being female" b/c hey, why only suck at *that* time, when ovulation can make life miserable, too?! (TMI, guys, I know, but seriously, if you have to share testicular issues, we'll survive, it's only fair, and, also, probably less gross.) You want a fibro trigger? Found it! *headdesk*
Point 4. Sciatic nerve pain because. Just because. ?!?! And that triggered "fibro feet". FOr me, that's a sense of hot dry pain in my feet, and I have to soak in cold water for "pretend" relief (numbing wears off), and that was me at 2 AM.
Point 5. I have fibro, it's flaring, and so is my PTSD, and while it is currently a mere 8*F right this minute (Oh, it's up to 12, wow)? Sunday will be around 65. Sure, no problem, I can handle that kind of... Mother Nature mood swing. Oh, and tomorrow? Freezing rain! EFF IT ALL I WANNA GET OFF...whatever crazy ride this is.derided for therapy when I still wake up screaming (literally, like the movies, poor Hubby nearly hit the ceiling the other night when I screamed awake, and I can't keep windows open in summer or neighbors hear me...) ???
So there. I whine, I whinge, I hurt, I hate this, and I am tired of being Little Miss Sunshine when I can't even go to my in-laws for Christmas, b/c that stupid PIN is at it *again*. Hubby texted his brother to have his wife (PIN) checked for early dementia and/or tumor, b/c in no universe does it make sense for her to think her 3-year-old kid will have the first clue what the battle of Midway was, and *will* prefer Legos, dammit! In what universe do toddlers not like building block toys?! PIN's. She is spending waaaay too much time in the Werid-iverse with SIL...

In 1653, Oliver Cromwell became "Lord Protector" of England, Scotland, and Ireland, and if you didn't like it, he killed you. Ollie needed some therapy. And a stiff drink. And a few other things, probably. His religion? Independent Puritan. His heritage? His umpteen-great-grandma was sister to Thomas Cromwell, a minister to Henry VIII of England. (The sister married someone, whose descendant changed the surname to... well, take advantage. Cromwell was also distantly related to Henry VIII via Jasper Tudor's daughter Joan, who would've been sister to Henry VII.) Oliver Cromwell was very good at military matters and at deeming himself, literally, "The Puritan Moses". During England's Civil War of 1648, Cromwell--then in Parliament---went Roundhead (Parliamentarian) and ended up signing the death warrant for the deposed King CHarles I. He eventually dismissed the "Rump Parliament" of the Commonwealth of England, and said, "I'm it, but really, no, not a king, we aren't into kings, are we, no no no," and became the first Lord Protector....Really, it wasn't at all due to his doing, not a bit, it was wholly the idea of the post-rump Parliament. *Eyeroll* Right. And I'm Shakira.
Meanwhile, he went haywire and hellfire all over anyone Catholic (Ireland) and confiscated lands, and to this day, Cromwell's name is *spat* in some parts of Ireland.
Somehow,d espite being this controversial and abrasive in life, Cromwell died of natural causes. Two years later, the monarchy (King CHarles) was back (The Restoration) and Cromwell's corpse was dug up, put in chains, and beheaded. In case nobody got the point that the king wasn't amused by revolution and the Lord Protector. Vindictive much? Yikes.
Today in 1773, unnamed persons boarded English ships in Boston harbor, and thereupon dumped out 350 crates of tea. The act symbolically repudiated English taxation, domination of colonial matters, and, well, y'know. England. Colonists as a matter of patriotic pride switched to coffee, and therein lies the reason the US drinks coffee more than it drinks tea. Not a joke. Really is all down to the original Boston Tea Party. Americans drank coffee, Tories/English drank tea.
In sports, today marks the 1972 Miami Dolphins going undefeated (for a then-14-game season), being the first in the American football National Football League to do so. Go Fins!
And in 2002, Canada ratified the 1997 Kyoto Protocol, aimed at reducing man-made greenhouse gas emissions.

Thank you for bearing with my constant ranting.

I'm alive, I'm sleeping like a rock, and for some reason I wanted cherry juice so that seems to be helping. (??? Weirdo that I am.)***Infamous therapies over history:1. The Attic. The madwoman in the attic is a motif in literature going waaaaaay back: the nutty female relative is locked in the attic. (See: Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte for a grotesquely racist version of it, and Charlotte Perkins...

Welcome to the Perseid meteor showers, the "biggies" usually every year. (The Leonids beat 'em one year IMHO).AND today much of the northern hemisphere will see 5 to 99% solar eclipse. How cool is that? Your best bet is to be in the UK or norhtern Spain, where totality is excellent before sundown. Me, I'll get a super duper tiny itty bitty slice of it, so little that it won't be noticeable. New...
Hopefully all goes well and the fleas go away... Soon! I honestly can't hardly believe you still have them! That's insane!
I'm doing okay, all things considered. I caught a cold that I just can't get rid of and today my body is just killing me. The ED is viscously out of control and I don't know what to do about it. I know I need help but I can't get anyone to listen to me. At least none of the professionals! I'm at a loss.
Leo, so distressing about your mom and those fleas. I pray that you find some sense of peace. That's a lot going on. Weather doing a roller coaster here too and I'm feeling it. Thanks for the trivia. Tea drinker here. Lemon ginger is my new favorite.
Precious, I pray your cold goes away soon. Yuck. Also for your ED to ease. I hope you find someone who listens and soon.
Dinner party went well. Another tonight, book club. Less stressful, more laid back.
I woke to a lot of pain. I'd love to just stay in bed, but there's too much to do. I'm looking forward the next week, no obligations whatsoever.
This much pain is depressing. People are starting to comment on it, in that I'm not hiding it anymore. I hurt. If you ask, I say so. I'm done. I'm feeling overwhelmed by certain people in my life.
Blue, enjoy the nephew. I hope you get to see him soon.
Ida, I hope you're feeling better.
Thinking of everyone. My hands are making many mistakes typing so I need to stop.
I survived my pedicure with all digits intact. The parking gods were looking over me yesterday as I was able to park right out front instead of the garage a block away. I skipped right out of there wearing my sandals with holiday red nail varnish on my toes and into my car.
Today, I have a couple of quick errands and I got a new small bookcase to build for my office. I'm hoping it is intact and all of the parts are there when I open the box. A purchase from Overstock which means anything could be in that box or not. Fingers crossed. It won't take long to do; maybe a half an hour. I want to be done with all errands/projects by 3ish today so I can just rest. I'm coughing a lot probably from the cold but I'm a bit concerned.
My Mom's new family history book which I am giving to her as a Christmas present arrived yesterday. It looks great and I am really pleased with it.
Hi Precious - Sorry to hear that you have a cold. I like Elderberry syrup for anything viral. It kills things like that off fast. Zicam nasal swabs help too. Feel better!
Time to round up the morning meds, a screwdriver and hope that my new shelving unit is not damaged. I will check back later! Group hug on this cold, cold day!
Great lesson in history! Sorry to hear that you are having so many issues all at once. I share quite a few of them..and can't share at least one of them. I do have a substitute though, have been having some prostate problems that are getting more severe as time goes on here. Have been checked, am on meds, and will most likely need surgery in the fairly near future. More details to follow. :-) You never have to apologize for ranting about anything out here. We are Queens (and a few Kings) of the rant! Hoping you feel better physically and emotionally as the day goes on. (((hugs))).
Precious,
Sorry to hear that you also are suffering this morning. I think we all need a vacation or something. You're in my thoughts and prayers.
Hmmmmm We made it up to -1 with a low wind this morning. It's amazing how warm that feels already. 6 inches of snow tonight (a lot of people will get more than that) and -20 tomorrow night. HOWEVER, "they" are predicting maybe as high as 30 by next Thursday. My body aches today...ribs feel like I was in a boxing match and lost. Gin recruited me to Christmas shop with her tomorrow morning. Does anyone want to take my place? Sorry that I'm all over the place here today...am going on 5 hours of restless sleep. Positive note for today: hmmmmm The truck started yet again this morning!
Sending (((hugs))) to all of you, my fibro friends,
Kel
It sucks that you are in so much pain. I've been trying to be more open about hurting too but still find myself using the standard "I'm doing ok" answer way to much. Unfortunately, it's nearly impossible for some people to understand. Sounds like you have an easier week next week..just gotta hang on!
Fantod,
Glad to hear that the history book looks great! I wish I had the patience to start working on my family history...we're losing so much as more and more people pass away. I think I mentioned before that I use to be around maybe people that spoke Finn...now they've pretty much all passed away. My Mom use to be fluent but hasn't really spoken it for about 13 years (since my Dad passed). Use it or lose it!
Presh, sorry you are having a bad time and cannot get the help you need. Praying you can get the help you need, soon.
Bobbii, happy to hear your dinner party went well. Enjoy tonight’s too. Yay for nothing on the agenda for next week. I too have started to just say I am not good. My other BIL commented on that today. He is glad that I am standing up for myself. I hope your hands are feeling better and that you can get things done you wish to.
Happy to see you are here and still have all of your digits, Fantod. I hope you get your cold under control before it turns into anything more. People here at work are dropping like flies. I am hoping and praying this salt lamp is keeping my office in a “healthy state”. I know that is a lot to put on a lamp. lol You have intrigued me to look into my ancestry. I have a lot of my “American” family, but my grandpa came from Austria and my mom (and all of her relatives) from England. Unfortunately there isn’t anyone alive that seems to have the information past our grandparents. Maybe someday I will get to it. Have a good day.
Kel, you are a warrior! I will take your place shopping with Gin, as I need to go out. Everything I have got has been online and I am racking up the Ebates bucks!! Sorry your ribs and everything else hurt. I hate rib pain. Maybe a heating pad would help. Take care of yourself and wait for the snow to stop before you snowblow!
I finally took a pain pill last night. That along with the Epsom bath made it so my legs didn’t wake me up. I was up about 3 times, but not due to that. My eyes are bothering me still, a lot. I am freezing, but it was -3 when I left for work and up to 12 when I got here. We are in a weather advisory tonight, so Sonny’s game will probably be canceled. I go even though he can’t play. I love watching basketball live. My daughter is home and turns 19 today. Not sure how she got that old already. I have shopping to do tomorrow. I have no stocking stuffers and I think that is all we are taking to Florida to open. Next week at this time we should almost be there and I hope it is in the 70’s.
Thankful it is Friday. I want to sleep in tomorrow. Even if it is till 7am!!
I will tell Gin that you will take my place! Just to show how much I appreciate it, I'll take your place on the Florida trip! ;-) I hope you get your shopping done...and get some good rest tonight.
Kel, oh geez! Wht's with th ehuman hind end? Gives nobody any peace, does it?! One way or another, so to speak.... Big hugs, and you soldier on admirably:-)
Presh, hang in there, okay, just big big big hugs.
Bobbii, I am so glad you have more rest next week:-)
Fan, Mom has had GERD and was a long-time smoker, and I think her radiotherapy didn't help things in general. I'm at high risk for lifelong GERD, so I'm always worrying. I send you all the good warm weather I am not getting, either. :-)
If 2017 is going to be better, I need to get rid of fleas for a start.... They set off a spray for any living actual fleas. And we can't find any pests like mice or something to let them live on, so we're just baffled. We have no mice, squirrels, etc., in our house *anywhere*, let alone the Infested Zone. No feces, no nibbles, no sign of anything but humans and the Unkillable Fleas. Just that one thing, y'know?
We're sending letters to Mom's creditors saying, "Send it all to th elawyer now". HAH! There's one thing off the list...
TOday I am making fudge and popcorn balls. Or not. Tomorrow maybe. I dunno. I think if I plastic up the popcorn balls and put them in the freezer, they'll last a while.... Gott look it up!
Much hugs to all!
Leo, I'm so sorry that 2016 has been so bad for you. Just like my 2015. It's so rough to go through. You have been one brace gal though. I know you don't always feel that way. I sure don't get the flea thing. Someone will get it figured out.
Precious, I hope you start feeling better and that someone listens to you for real.
Bobbi. Hope those hands hold up for you. I also tell people of my pain. If I don't volunteer for things, I want people to know why. Hope your get together goes well tonight.
Glad you got through your pedicure, fantod. Sounds pretty. Mine toes are green with poinsettias painted on them. Looked great for our cruise. Hope you have time to rest later.
Kel, it's sure cold here too. Sorry about the problems down below. As Leo said, it all causes us nothing but trouble.
Bbmom, we have a big storm coming too. Hope your legs don't bother you too much. Happy Birthday to your daughter.
By the way, Leo. I'm sure glad your hubby said something to his brother. She is having psychological problems of some sort.
I'm on dusting detail for daughter in law today. Gotta run, her mom just got here.
It's definitely been a crazy year, Leo. At least it's almost over. How many months have those fleas been around, now? There's gotta be something out there that kills them! I'm sorry about your mom. I htink it's nuts that they aren't getting her in sooner! I remember when my mom went through the girly phase, it was rough on her too. Hard to believe in just a few years from now it could be my turn soon. I'm sorry your fibro and sciatica is flaring. I hope it calms down soon. That PIN definitely needs a head check! And I agree, go with legos.
My husband came in the room pre dawn (probably around 3) and just tossed and turned waking me up a lot. I finally knocked out and had a dream that I missed my C & P exam with the VA! Only for my alarm to go off... wehw! Saved by the bell. Pffft!
Spike, mom's cat, finally got the guts to venture out of her room yesterday. I was sitting on my bed browsing netflix when I saw a reflection of dark shadow zoom by in the mirror, then start to creep back towards the door. I had assumed it was Hershey, but then realized both Hershey and Silver were laying on the bed with me. So I poked my head up to see and the shadow froze with his ears pointed at me, big round eyes, as if to say, "Whoops. I'm busted! Pretend you never saw me." And he quietly slunk out the door into the hallway that lead back to mom's room. LOL.
Music group later this afternoon. We're supposed to get thunderstorms today and tomorrow and snow at the summit. So we're going to try and drive up there around sunset to see some. I'm nervous about the C & P. Btw, my brother and his new baby are in OH so I don't know when I'll get to visit them. But maybe we'll get to skype soon.
Back in a minute....
Music group today
I'm sorry I can't respond to everyone. Glad to hear dinner went well. Glad all digits are still intact after the pedi. Blue I'm sorry about your mom and crossing my fingers the test goes well. Ida glad to hear you are getting in some good family time.
I am close to just giving up and staying in bed till the rheumatologist can set me next week. I'm at my desk tears in my eyes an ice pack on my arm and trying to work. If I touch anything with the fingers on my laft hand shooting pain goes up my arm and makes me nauseous because it hurts so bad. My entire body aches & vertigo. I really hope the doctor cam do something. I can't keep doing this, I just can't.
Bobby, congrats on the dinner party, And for not hiding your pain from your friends. I did a similar thing last Saturday night — had movie night with 2 other couples at our house, when I usually would said “no.” Wasn’t able to do much, or say much, or look so good! And suddenly, this week, I’ve been getting a little sympathy from a couple of people who would normal say “just push through the pain.” I hope your friends treat you better, and Good luck with your dinner tonight!
As for me, I am in a fibro fog-depression-anxiety -pain downward spiral. And, it seems I need to reevaluate my medications. I accidentally discovered that Savella has been affecting my sleep. I didn’t take it for about a week, and slept sooooo well while I was off of it; then bang, started again and kept waking throughout the night and got very little of that deep, refreshing sleep. I’ve changed taking it before bed to around noon. I’ve been taking it for many years (fibro fog is disabling my brain for dates, lol). Has it happened to anyone else that a medication suddenly changes effects after years of taking it?
Sending hugs to everyone.
Kel, -20?? Sorry about your prostate. I had a friend pass away a couple yrs ago from cancer of it, which spread to other organs. But it took like 4 yrs. Keep warm up there & good luck with that shopping!
BBmom, sorry about your eyes and legs. It amazes me how you keep pushing through and doing the things you do.
Bobbii, too.... always so busy! You'll get through it even if you crawl through it. You would have made a great Marine.
Fantod, glad you got the bookcase done. I'm not sure what you mean about dragging stuff around, but it sounded funny.
Ida, I'll have to go read about your father in a minute. Gotta throw some pancakes on. When I sit back down, I'll go look it up.
Maynard, I'm sorry it's a bad day for you. I hope your rheumatologist can help. I also hope you have a relaxing weekend and feel better soon.
My husband played a trick on me. He took my used almond mild containers and filled them with thick, chunky coconut milk, and shoved them back in the fridge. So I woke up this morning thinking I had milk to use for oatmeal and cocoa, turns out I had none. Didn't buy any yesterday because of course I thought I still had some. Go figure!
Shoutout to Twin!
