I'm exhausted and I just can't deal with Karen today. Her dog ate a bunch of atenolol, which is a heart medication, overnight. She *left the dog at home* and intended to ask the Dr here and the dog's cardiologist when she got here. She called to let me know she's running late and the Dr and I were like...turn around and bring her to the ER. She didn't count how many were left in the bottle (which was almost full so she had an idea how many should be in it), call animal poison control which is a 24 hour line, or bring the dog with her, which none of us could understand. She lives in the city where one of the ERs we refer to is located. I wouldn't expect anyone off the street to know to do those things, but she would rip a client a new asshole if they left an animal at home that ate a significant amount of medication. She's been a tech long enough to know these things and none of us can fathom why she left her home and hoped she didn't go home to a dead dog. The dog is at the ER for monitoring and we all heard the bitching about the cost...again if it were a client, she would say it's their own fault for leaving meds where the dog could get to them...
I had to bring bfs cat here today because they're doing something in his apartment...she's not happy. I literally drugged her a little when I got here (bf is fine with it, he saw me get her in the carrier last time). I'll bring her back there tonight, and hopefully won't hit a lot of traffic because I'm really having a hard time staying awake today
I used to post here occasionally, but it's been quite a while... I hope everybody is doing well.
Leo, that looks lovely. I hope you enjoy it thoroughgoingly!
Miki, wtf? Glad the doggy's being monitored and cared for now. Some people...
I'm feeling a bit nervous for my upcoming spinal fusion surgery for my scoliosis this Monday. Anybody here have similar done? Any surgery advice is appreciated. I've researched it as much as I can for the past few years, so I'm as ready as I can be. :-)
Also, it's hot here, too. I live in Phoenix, and find myself questioning why every summer day lol....
Apprehensively,
Courtney
I start work tomorrow afternoon. My driving schedule is crazy. Some days are better than others but overall it’s a mess. Send good vibes my way if you are so inclined.
My mother is doing well in rehab. She is eating 1400 calories which is amazing. The dietitian called my sister today. They want to add a supplement to bring her up to 1600 calories and add a bunch of protein to build up her strength. I have to say that this facility is pretty darn good. They are really on top of things. The food is good/hot and the staff are very nice. And, it’s spotless.
Leo - I hope that having a change of scenery helps you! Hugs!
Miki - Karen is batsh*t crazy. I’m sorry that you have to tolerate that. I hope that the drive home was too bad.
Hi Courtney - I’ve had multiple surgeries. Need a second knee replacement sooner than later. My biggest thing was finding a surgeon who understood that Fibromyalgia patients typically require more pain medication for a longer period of time. Some surgeons say that they understand and then refuse to help. I’ve had a pain management specialist for over a decade. This is exactly why. They’ll step in if the surgeon doesn’t act. And, if you ever end up in ER, they are very helpful. Good luck with your surgery. A positive outlook goes a long way.
The computer is still not fixed. I’m on my phone. Waves!
yeah, it's a sauna on blast here. hard to handle more than a couple minutes at a time.
Hi Courtney, nice to see you again. I will have to have spinal fusion some day when my low back or neck no longer hold up. they are both at the point of nearing the spinal canal with stenosis. I am fearful of getting that surgery done as I thought it might take months for recovery.
Fan is right, a positive outlook goes a very very long way. Stress is the evil dweller that makes recovery more difficult and may prolong it. Just ask me. I just had a rebound of Pericarditis after trying to work and being under immense stress at work. But I've set my boundaries of what I can and cannot do. I think that is also part of a successful recovery. Setting and abiding by boundaries. You've got to put yourself and your health first. I have a pain management doctor. The laws must have changed in Texas because even if I'm admitted in the ER, I can still get morphine or whatever else I need for outbursts in pain like recent pericarditis, or diverticulitis I've had or migraines not resolved by my meds. this pain management p.a. is really good about monitoring how well i am doing and keeping me on track with taking my proper meds. take less of this, more of that....what to do in flares? what is causing and how to use additional therapies. it took me 10 years to find a good one though.
Hey, who else cannot sleep due to the heat dome??? My sleep schedule is going backward again. wanting to sleep daytime and awake with insomnia night time. i am hoping getting settled into a new place that is larger will help me with having my old bed and all my fluffy soft, expensive sheets and pillows and pillowtop bed :))) That bed is so dang comfy, i cannot wait because this cot is killing me low back! i have a double bed on top of it but it still hurts my back. taking a hot bath....yeah, not something i want to do to relieve it!!!
well, hey to Fan, Blue, PuppyMom, Angela, Miki, et all, that I missed!!!
