I will not be able to debate all day but I will put my input now!

I think that the way people dress is a reflection of who they are. As children our parent dress us. So as we get older we want to express ourselve with how we decide to dress.

I do not have a problem with how anyone else dresses as long as it does not offend someone. Saying on shirts that aren't appropriate stuff like that.

I think that it is good that it is the one thing that we can do to truly express our individuality.

Thank God my children have always been conservative and I haven't had to deal with some issues. I think that young girls just need to be taught that the world is a sick place to certain things should be covered so they dont' attract the wrong company!

i pretty much am fine with the majority of "styles" out there . the only thing that i really i have to say on it is "PULL UP YOUR DAMN PANTS" it drives me nuts to see someone wearing pant 4 sizes to big and around there knees so they have to hold em while they walk....

I for one get sick of seeing people with their pants barely hanging on the cheeks of their behinds. I don't want to see their underwear or their butt cracks. lol And the heavier girls that wear hip hugger pants and short tops is disgusting looking to me as a large lady who tries to cover herself apprpriately. Just my opinion of some and their sense of what looks good. NOT!!!

To each their own - I live in T shirts and holey jeans with a tank top or two tossed in for good measure. Have never been the one to follow the crowd.

When the kids were little there was minimum fighting as they knew what they could get by with and what wasnt gonna happen.

Many towns in many states have actually banned baggy pants like you speak of. Their butts and underwear can not be seen or they can actually be fined!

dont pay much attention to the fashion world.. I live in sun dresses and tank tops i think they make a big deal over fashion these days.. the poor people could never keep up with the cost.. old saying when you go to church... god does not care what you ware as long as you are there.. :)

My mom was really good about letting us express ourselves growing up. I was a punk rocker, a new waver and a mod. I had 2-tone spikey hair, multiple ear piercings and wore funky clothes. I grew out of it. It's just clothes and hair (which will grow and and can be coloured).

I don't care what people wear. I do think that teens, should sometimes be told what there not going to wear. My son tried to do the baggy pants, and I said no way. Someone gave him some pants that were way to big, and I told him if you don't wear a belt with those, I'm going to pull them down. I said you want to look like a bum, then I would help......lol

I'm fairly conservative myself, although I feel "live & let live". I try not to judge others by their dress, though that's hard when they are wearing offensive slogans & such. I am much like my father in that I am a "people watcher". You can sit my dad on a bench somewhere & he can sit there for an hour or two, just watching people & watching the world go by. It's interesting to see different people interact, and it's interesting after a while of seeing all these differently dressed people, from bikers to goths to grungy or conservative...they are still all basically the same underneath. They have the same worries, the same concerns, the same relationships.

I too really dislike the baggy pants deal. I do NOT like seeing people's underwear, or worse, butt crack. Not a pleasant sight in my opinion. I don't like seeing girls wearing clothes 3 sizes too small, seeing their boobs hanging out of their tops. There are still some things that should remain covered while in public.

I do have kids, and I hope that they will grow up to have some of my morals & values, I hope that's reflected in their dress. The fact that they go to private school restricts their dress & hairstyle most of the time. I don't mind letting them follow certain fashion trends; some of the goth fashions scare me a bit. I don't like seeing people all in black, with dyed black hair & black fingernails & white faces with black lipstick & such. However, the reason I don't like it is that alot of the time, the kids who dress that way are very depressed, very cynical. Some are just trying to make a 'statement', or trying to be different, but I've seen many disturbed teens in goth fashion. The ones that wind up killing themselves, or shooting up schools. They always seem to be goth, or sometimes grunge. So I guess the dress itself doesn't bother me, I know teens have a need to express themselves & don't want to be forced into a mold, I would just like to be sure that they're okay mentally, that they don't feel that 'I don't fit in anywhere, so what does it matter if I'm here or not'.
Wow, I'm probably reading way too much into some fashions, I just worry about our kids. lol

By the way, I usually live in sweat pants & t-shirts, or blue jeans & t-shirts. If I'm at home, it's the comfy sweatpants/yoga pants & wife-beater tank tops or baggy t-shirts. :)

I have 2 boys and I really don't care what they wear because they need to express themselves and if I don't fight them on it they will grow out of the different fads. My youngest started out expressing himself goth and now he is just a regular dressed kid. It was just a fad but if I fought it, it could have become a perminent style due to rebellion. Not my thing. I do however hate to see overweight girls wearing tight clothes and exposing parts of their fat thinking it is sexy. I am nice a fluffy and choose to cover my bulge. No one wants to see it. I guess that I'm very old fashioned and did monitor my daughters clothes when they were growing up. Thankfully both of them are very modest about their bodies and dress appropriately in public. My oldest daughter won't even wear a tank top in public. I didn't teach her that but she chooses what she will wear and what she won't in public. She has always been a beautiful girl and woman but is a tomboy at heart. She never dresses up except for a court appearance or something of that nature. She wears baggy t shirts and jeans all the time. But she is 33 yrs. old and can do whatever she likes. My youngest daughter who is only 26 isn't quite as modest as the oldest is but she is descent in public. She does wear tank tops when it's warm weather. I worry about my granddaughter who is only 12 who thinks it's okay to wear her pants hanging way down below her belly button. She is very immature and naive about the perverts in this world who might try to take advantage of her. I do worry about all of our young people and the challenges that they face in todays society. We all need to pray for our young people.

I have seen boys wearing their pants litterally to their ankles, walkin down the street, or to their knees and they are having walk with their legs spread apart to keep them at the knee; and it makes me furious!
As for other styles i don't care what they wear as long as it is not my kids.
This super thin modeling makes me sick...they showed a program about super thin male models and they looked so sick/ litterally.
None scare me. Most of the gothic looking kids are hurting kids.
As for the girls, I think it should be age appropiat. I think it is a sad thing when parents let their little tiny girls dress like street hores and they wonder why they are kidnapped and molested! And makeup on little girls that are not even teenagers! Please!
Dressing sexy to me says something in itself.
Dressing a little more conservative but fashionable says something as well. One says I'm easy and cheap the other says I'm not.
This is just my opinion! Everybody has one. Thank God I don't have girls!!! They would HATE me.!!!

Are you conservative, old fashioned, or modern.....I would say that my dress style is....me??? When dressing up, my style is classic (little black dress, chanel, slacks, blouse, sweater, no glitter, things that do not go out of style). On an everyday basis, jeans, dockers, sweaters, t-shirts, boots, BoBo's, flats, like that.

Do you care? How I look? Yes, very much. I am not flashy at all, but not hidden either. I need to be clean and comfortable. I don't have the money for trends...I would rather buy a new tree to plant. I am too old for fashionesta. I think that is is funny when I see someone my age, dresses like a teenager-that ship has sailed.

Do you have kids? Will you allow them to dress anyway they want? I have 3 kids and taught in a High School. I have always allowed my kids to dress however they wanted. They need some control over their lives. Dress does not define the person or their intellect.
