My rheumy had me stop my Lyrica last week. He said I didn't have to wean off just stop taking it. Well, ever since I stopped it I've had extremely bad migraines and horrible nightmares. The nightmares are so bad I'm afraid to sleep. No medication is helping with the migraines. They are VERY bad. They will ease up a tad and the come back worse than what they were.
Has anyone else had this problem when stopping Lyrica? If so, what helped you get through it? I really need some help and back rheumy won't call me back.

My understanding from people here and I want to say that I've read that you are not supposed to abruptly stop taking this.

If you stop taking Lyrica suddenly, your seizures may become worse or you may have withdrawal symptoms. Withdrawal symptoms include headache, sleep problems, nausea, and diarrhea. Do not stop using Lyrica suddenly without first talking to your doctor. You may need to use less and less before you stop the medication completely. Carry an ID card or wear a medical alert bracelet stating that you are taking Lyrica, in case of emergency. Any doctor, dentist, or emergency medical care provider who treats you should know that you are taking a seizure medication.
If it were me, I would even consider going to the ER than to have to sustain the withdrawl symptoms....At the very least I would call the ER and ask them about it immediately.....
