Hi all,
I am feeling some confusion. I got the book "Fibro for Dummies" and I also have about 3 other books on fibro.I am confused about the symptoms and some of the causes theories.
I was dxed because I had all of the tender points and because I had the pain of those and all over muscle pain and horrible fatigue for more than 3 months. I have been dxed 3 times. Twice by rheumys that then told me that they dont treat people with fibro. From what ok on I understand there is only one rheumie in Austin that treats fibro and she has a long waiting list. But this is my real problem...I have a coupla symptoms that I have only found under Wickepedia's definition of fibro.
the first one, one that hurts more than any is a type of nerve pain. I get this burning, stabbing, stinging, pins and needles feeling that also includes numbness on hands, fingers, feet, toes, arms, shoulders.top and bottom of legs. The pain migrates from one point to another like it's on the electrical current that runs through my body.
The second symptom is a tremor. The deal with my hand tremor is that it has been around at least half my life. Whats of concern is that it has gotten much worse in see a pretty fast time. My hands shake so bad that today I could not even dial my ceil phone. & also I am extremely abortive to the sun, bright lights, and heat...makes, me feel sick. Lights on this phone I'm typing on are killing me right now!
As for cause....I am reading viruses like EBV which would mange make sense cuz I had it bad. Also see a serotonin metabolic theory which involves those with fibro having very little serotonin...ok I have absolutely no serotonin in my body. What I dont buy is this theory that only people with low paik pain tolerance have it..thats BS because on I had 2 babies wroth with no pain med and no screaming. My dentist told me I had highest pain tolerance of any she had ever worked on.
Anyone with any ideas? Anyone else have symptoms like mine.if so what did your doc say about it? Thanks to all of you!! Irish

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
FInd a neurologist who will listen to you. Good luck Too many doctors stop when they see the word fibro you have to get them to see past it. Hugs -RJ
Are you one any medications - they can cause these symptoms.
I have everything you have listed and on no meds. I also have anxiety and some of us with anxiety have the burning - stinging and other sensations
I've had the tremors, but usually if I'm taking too many stimulant medications at one time - you'd be surprised what can act as a stimulant. If I take tramadol, allergy medicine, and drink coffee all at once... I've never had them as a symptom of FM though (and it's been 30 years for me.) I'd say it's worth mentioning to your doctor.
Magic, I will be making an appointment to see a neuro today. Do you think I should see a neuro before I make an appt to see a rheumy? I am definitely going to choose a different provider for the care of my fibro. My doc now totally believes in fibro. He even taughtme how to use a hand held massager to benefit my fibro pain. (make tight circles all over the area but make sure you go counter clockwise, this really makes a difference since I have tried not circles and regular clockwise and I barely even felt anything!). Anyway he does care, but he hates giving meds. I have some mental disorders and I have had at least one panic attack every night and some nights 2 or 3! My pdoc recognizes the importance of my taking a 2 mg Ativan every night but my internist wants me to wean myself to 1/2 mg!! So he has me on gabapanten 400 mg twice a day and Tramadol 50 mg four times a day along with tylenol every time I take it. I am also using this liquid rub called Pennsaid--which cost me 80 bucks on my copay and which I have to say AbsorbineJr. works better :-
The drugs you have been given wont stop the Ativan withdrawal - be careful it can be total hell

Thats the only place I have inflammatio because the bone fragments have calciumfied and rubbing my muscle.
My fibro consist of widespread pain and those tenderpoints.
I personally see a neuro since you have stinging stabbing nerve pain, he might be able to help more or he will send you to a rheumy,
Its tough you never know when fibro is going to hit you hard compared to reg everyday pain., IF it goes away I know its fibro but if it always constant then I get it checked out, like my knee.
