Are you taking your gabapentin as directed? I didn't think it was an "as needed" kind of med. Thought it needed a constant blood level to be effective. Not sure about that but it's something to consider.
Hope you have less pain today.
All I can say is - hang in there. Some days are better than others, and some weeks are better than others. In my opinion we can't give in to this nasty illness !! That opinion gets me in trouble most of the time - because I do push myself to the limit - but it beats giving in and sitting around having a pity party!!!
Good luck.
Gabapentin is not like a pain pill that you take and feel immediately. This is a drug that you have to take regularly and let it build up in your system before it starts to help. I know that it helps my horrible neuropathy like pain in my legs and feet.
I do, at times, find it difficult to believe that my life will be somewhat limited. But at the end of the day it doesn't matter if I took it easy or not, I still feel like a heavy bag of garbage. I try to carry on like my life isn't affected because realistically for the most part it isnt. Not in any huge way anyway.
Maybe in 10 years I'll feel different, but for now fibro isn't the boss of me. Being upset about having this illness won't make me feel better or make it go away, so I really make an effort to be optimistic. Some days it's harder than others, but despite my pain and fatigue and insomnia I'm overall a happy and ambitious person.
xoxox I hope you are able to get some sort of emotional support here on DS. Fibro sucks and it can be devastating at times. It's hard.
However, there we sit plagued with this bizarre and nearly dibilitating affliction.
I completely understand your mind set, it has been 7 frustrating years since my diagnosis.
