So, here's how it went at the Rheumys office

My hubby and I drove for 4 hours(1 way, mind you! lol!) to find out what has been causing all this extra pain from my waist,down to my feet. Guess what I have! It's right from the SPECIALISTS mouth...FIBROMYALGIA!!! Wow! I NEVER would have guessed! (meow, meow!)Although I have had this crap for 10 years, he pretty much acted like I didn't know what to do about it. I guess in all fairness he did tell me a few different things about it, and he did give me a prescption for Lyrica and he advised me to do very low impact aerobic exercises. I am not sure how I'll be able to do them right now, but he seems to think once I get on the Lyrica for a few days, my pain should be a lot less, therefore I should be able to do exercising. I guess the feeding and taking care of the fainting goats, chickens, turkey and 2 dogs and 1 kitty isn't considered execise. Oh yeah,let's not forget cooking, cleaning, yard work(occasionally) and taking care of my biggest chore...My Hubby. Sure could've fooled me! Lol! I thought I was putting in a lot of exercise time! Oh well. I have to admit it was very refreshing to run into yet another doc that actually BELIEVES in FM! Times, they are changing! For the better! Anyway, although I felt he was a good doc, he told me nothing more than what my doc has done for me, besides the med change. Oh also on the exercise, he told me he doesn't reccommend walking, because it is too rough on us. He says swimming in a heated pool, riding bike, stuff like that. I would love swimming, but in my little hick town(which I really do love) We have no swimming pool except the unheated ones for summer swimming. That includes the surrounding towns too, that are close enough to drive to on a daily basis. Anyway, it costed $120.00 in gas to go up and back, the eating out, and the time off from hubbys job, and I have no idea how much the office visit was(insurance will be billed). So, I think I will tell my doc he's doing a great job, and PLEASE don't send me to anymore SPECIALISTS! Sorry, I kinda went on a rant there, but I just wanted you all to know what went on with my visit. I now have to go find out about lyrica. I thought it was for nerve pain, hmm. Just goes to show me I don't know everything about FM. Lol! I think we never will know everything about FM! Have a great day, all! Cheryl

am thinkin i will never know ANYTHING about it...like the simple WHYS of it all...had I known I was gonna feel this crappy so young I would have taken worse care of myself and had OH so much more FUN!!!

I am glad it did go well at the docs. TO bad it is such a long drive. Hope the lyrica helps. Keep us update.

Well at least you got it reaffirmed.The Lycra should help hopefully anywasy. My doc. says walk some and it helps. Maybe you could just try the stretching exercises. I think they help me??? no swimming pool for me either.

Thanks for the replies! After 10 years of this stuff, I sure thought no new stuff would come up! Darn that Fibro Monster! He's a sly little devil! Lol!

Wow I love the way you write most funny.Not your pain or the ignorence of the Dr.I bet u were so damm glad you made the trip.I know when say excerise I often wonder if they arent out of there minds.They dont think working around the house yard and etc is excerise and of course the biggest chore of all the husband lol.Anyway ireally enjoyed reading this it put a smile on my face Hugs to you God Bless

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
