I was surprised to find out how much faster I fell asleep as you are not allowed any clocks, phones, read in bed, etc. I had no idea what time it was when I fell asleep but it was before midnight.
I ended up getting a CPAP machine and for the first few weeks, was fine but having problems wearing it now. I have a hard time with the smell of it or something, as well as it also presses so hard against my lip/teeth, that it hurts.
I have a permanently broken nose, so I tend to baby it against the bridge of my nose too. Probably need a different mask but the other two didn't fit at all. I have problems with masks fitting. What's weird, is that I'll throw the mask on while I'm reading in bed and it doesn't bother me at all. Just when I try to get to sleep. LOL
never got any sleep in the hospital either & WERE THERE FOR REST!... WHEN MY LST DAUGHTER WAS BORN HAD MACOMEUM SO HAD TO HAVE EXTRA OF LUNGS EVERY 3DAYS FOR 2MO @ 3 MO I ACYUALLY WATCH HER STOP BREATHING AS SHE WAS SLEEPING=was in a bassinet next to my side of bed, within my hand on her! so i gentelly tapped her & she started breathing! they set up a monitor in my home & i had to put it on her when i layed her down=first time she feel asleep & the alarm went off=that was it!little brat would not go to sleep for 3days unless she was in my arms=the machine had a clicking noise & blinking lights & alarm when she stopped breathing!=about every 20 breath! we even played a low soothing tape & cover machine w/blanket to hide lights! So for 6mo i sleep w/ hand on her all night to keep her breathing the lungs cleared up & she is now 25yrs old!
i really don't think i could sleep w/stuff hooked up to me either! & w/out my sleepin pill!? or do they let you take your reg meds!
i would HATE for a person to keep talking to me every time i move. i hate any kind of noise!
ok so bring pillows AND and extra blanket. check. and maybe my ear plugs?
so basically i might end up needing a cpap, huh? that would be nice. more O2 sounds good. breathing is such a task at night. but i think it's my allergies. it doesn't help that my pain is so bad at night, too.
hey you all are so awesome and i really appreciate the in put!
why is sleeping such a nightmare for us fibromyalgics? sheez....
they put me in a room that was right next to a highway! all night it was "vroom.... vrooom... vrooom..." and head lights beaming through the blinds! i knew i forgot something as i was laying there and it occured to me that it was my EAR PLUGS!
the technician asked me in the early morning when she was assisting me to the bathroom why I didn't go to sleep right away (1st thing when she put me to bed)...... I was like hellooo!!! all those cars and trucks going by kept me up!
then after she put me back to bed i couldn't go back to sleep again thanks to the damn cars again!! i just laid there till it was "lights on". and had a head ache from hell (plus the nausea).
the good news is even though my own snoring woke me up, they said I didn't require a cpap machine. so I'm guessing i don't have sleep apnea?
i won't know the results of the rest of the study for another 7-10 days when they forward it to my doctor.
i kinda feel like i should get a repeat study but NOT in a room next to the highway!
oh and did you know they actually let me take my sleeping pills before bed? BOTH of them!
i got home this morning feeling like i was up all night drinking with a hang over from hell. still had to wash all that glue out of my hair. good thing i cut my hair on Friday and y'all now I buzz my hair off military style (GI Jane style) so lucky for me (and the tecki was happy about that, too).......
I want to thank all of you for being there for me. this sleep study sucked big time. i'll post the rest of the results when my doc gets back to me.
hugs to everyone!
I hope you have a wonderful night's sleep tonight!
