I knew someone that had that happen to them and all they did was point the finger and their family members and at the person that it happened to. I myself would ask to speak to the phamacist in private because they may have someone taking them. Ask the pharmacist if you should call the doctor. Also I would try and find out the exact amount because if ya say 7 or 8. I myself would think well which one is it? If ya missing some ya should know exactly the amount.

That's a hard call. I have a great working relationship with my doctor so in my case I could call walmarts and ask to talk to the person in charge of the pharmacy and report it and I would also let my doctor know.

Not everyone is that lucky so some would not report it.

I also don't normally count out my pills but sometimes I just get this feeling like I should spot check every so often. People make mistakes some accidently and some not so accidently

I agree, contact someone in charge at the pharmacy right away. If they don't want to 'fix' it, then call the doctor and tell them what happened and ask that a note be made in your chart so that they know why you are short and may need some more sooner than usual. Also, the doctor's office might even offer to call the pharmacist and ask that they adjust your 'due' date of when you can get it refilled. Good luck.

perhaps THIS Time I would say nothing, after all ya took the pills and left, IF you continue to use that Pharmacy I would Count them out right in front of the Pharmacist next time, and let em know the Reason this is being done..

At least document when, where, what time you got them and how many short you were. Then decide from there. Especially, if your ending up short time and time again. Definately a red flag !

I agree with Dakota on this one. I used to go to a Walgreens and that pharmacy shorted me on 2 of the 3 prescriptions that I had them fill, once you leave with the bottles it is your word against thiers. I would have them make ti mandatory to double count you meds when they fill ,and then make the pharmacist count them out in front of you ot you can cout them out with the pharmasist watching the whole time.

i have a delivery & i count them before i sign!
i have been shorted but it was someonethat toke pills i had called he pharm & that person did sign & they told me that he had picked up pills for another person that day & did the same thing! so she was black balled from soigned @ that pharm! i didn' get my pills replaced & had o call doc for samples! cause insurance would not pay for more! i told my doc he stroy & he knows how i under take all my meds! so that was ok! but hen you have the pharm should be noticed UNLESS HERE IS SOMEONE IN YOUR HOUSE THAT MAY HAVE TAKEN THEM! YOU HAVE TO DECIDE THIS! HARD AS IT MAY BE! or BELEIVE! i would have never thought this person would have put me in knowing pain by shorting me! strangely she came back four days later & gave me a couple pills! I had not told her the doc replaced them! SO SHE TOLD ON HER SELF!

Ouch ya that is a hard one.. Especially because it sounds like it has been awhile ago when you actually picked up your script to the time you counted them.... maybe you could balance it out and take less on your better days so will not be totally without at the end of the script this time and fallow what Dakota and ouchy said in the future.

once you walk away is hard to prove how or where it became short .. and believe the pharmacy is not going to want to take the responsibility. I guess if I was going to mention it to anyone it would be the pharmacy though so that they would be aware.

I would say something to both the doctor and call a manager at Walmart. Maybe some on there is stealing, you never know.

You know, in my mind the saddest thing with this issue is it seems we are automatically a suspect in the eyes of people around us. the fact it takes such medications for us to feel even remotely normal

The sigma that forever shadows us due to a few bad eggs is in itself an atrocity. For us to fear going to management, doctors, and all peoples involved is truly a sad state of affairs.

I will say this though, every month I go to the pain clinic, my med counts are correct. If there is ever a discrepancy, I will be vocal about it. My integrity is at question, and I would not like that. We also live in a day and age I don't trust hardly anyone around my medication. I used to have dbl counts done until I moved my scripts to a smaller "mom and pop" pharmacy, and have never had a problem with them. Even my doctors office knows I voice myself, but do so with integrity and respect.... it does make a difference.... hope this helps a bit....

i would call the pharmacy, at least, they double count all narcoticsm they have to, so either someone at store is stealing or at home?I dont know if i would tell pain doc, but if i did , make sure they know you called the store. Man, i dont count mine, maybe i should.

My sister had that happen too, and she called the pharmacy and told them, and they gave her the difference, with an apology.
