I unfortunatly have had this and it can be caused from a over production of serotonin.I got it from mixing a anti depressant with 5HTP i did not know this at the time but your not suppose to mix anti depressants with 5HTP.Here is a list of symptoms of Serotonin syndrome
Serotonin syndrome is a potentially life threatening drug reaction that causes the body to have too much serotonin, a chemical produced by nerve cells.
Causes, incidence, and risk factors
Serotonin syndrome most often occurs when two drugs that affect the body's level of serotonin are taken together at the same time. The drugs cause too much serotonin to be released or to remain in the brain area.
For example, you can develop this syndrome if you take migraine medicines called triptans together with antidepressants called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and selective serotonin/norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SSNRIs). Popular SSRI's include Celexa, Zoloft, Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, and Lexapro. SNRI's include Cymbalta and Effexor. Brand names of triptans include Imitrex, Zomig, Frova, Maxalt, Axert, Amerge, and Relpax.
The FDA recently asked the manufacturers of these types of drugs to include warning labels on their products that tell you about the potential risk of serotonin syndrome. Talk to your doctor before stopping any medication.
Serotonin syndrome is more likely to occur when you first start or increase the medicine.
Older antidepressants called monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) can also cause serotonin syndrome with the medicines describe above, as well as meperidine (Demerol, a painkiller) or dextromethorphan (cough medicine).
Drugs of abuse, such as ecstasy and LSD have also been associated with serotonin syndrome.
Symptoms
Symptoms occur within minutes to hours, and may include:
Agitation or restlessness
Diarrhea
Fast heart beat
Hallucinations
Increased body temperature
Loss of coordination
Nausea
Overactive reflexes
Rapid changes in blood pressure
Vomitting
Seizures

I had this too. I was on cymbalta and tramodol. Serotonin Syndrome is very Rare but but also life threatening. Don't rely on your doctor to figure this stuff out! Mine didn't. Pharamcists are a better source of medication information.

That is so true Clear blue sky.Fortunatly the doc i saw at the walk in new right away what was happening i had seizures and loss of conciousness along with pretty much all the other sx.I had to be put on a medication for 8 weeks to stop the stuttering speach and uncontroled muscel movement.I still get the uncontrolable head shaking and its been 7months since this happend.

I SPECIFICALLY asked my Dr IF 5htp would have a reaction with the Anti-Depressants he kept insisting I needed. Put me on Wellbutrin, 4 days in severe diarrhea. Put me on Effexor, 4 days in SEVERE diarrhea. Put me on Citalopram, same thing. He nonchalantly told me it wouldn't be a problem. What a bunch of quacks some of these guys are. DO not harm? Really? Keep up on your inforamition. Things have changed since you graduated in 1980 LOL

Sometimes i wonder if some drs got there degree out of a cracker jack box.We know our bodies better than anyone eltse but yet they keep pushing these drugs onto us and some of them have serious side effects along with serious consequences.
