Are hallucinations or in general seeing things that aren't there common with fibromyalgia?
AutumnSong
First of all are you on pain meds? I can't take any of the pain meds used for fibro without hallucinating. I had horrible hallucinations. If it isn't caused by meds then I would have to say call and talk to your doctor. There is something causing it and the sooner you find the answer the better for your mind and emotions. I also fear that they might cause you to do things that might put you at risk of hurting yourself. I will be watching to see what the outcome is and if you need a friend or friends we are here to help you get through it.

I am taking the generic cymbalta. I wouldn't say they are horrible hallucinations. Before I was on meds I had them every now in then...like thinking I saw a bug run across the floor but nothing was there...figurines look like silhouettes of ppl. It's weird and I just wanted to know how many ppl experience this. But I never fear I'll harm myself nor do I have suicidal/homicidal thoughts

Definitely talk to your doctor about this. It could be a side effect of medication, a result of extreme sleep deprivation, or something else. I know for myself, before I was on medication I couldn't sleep longer than an hour at a time due to the pain waking me up. Then like a roller coaster, lack of sleep led to anxiety and irritability. Then after weeks and weeks of it, I was a walking emotional crying mess and I started getting startle reflex response to things I thought I saw in my perifery vision, but when I turned me head straight on, nothing was there. For me, once I recieved the proper medications for my nerve pain and for sleep, the hot melting mess I was mentally went away. Anyway, that was my experience. Yours may be different, but that is why I urge you to go to a doctor, and be brutally honest about all your symptoms so that you can recieve the right treatment. Good luck. Xoxo

Thank you! I actually do get startled thinking that I see or hear things and I find out they aren't there...I just thought it's just something that randomly happens...it definitely happened before my diagnosis and before any pain meds...I was just never sure if there was a link to this and fibromyalgia. I wake up at least 3 times a night and I never wake up feeling refreshed. I may have that feeling twice a year. All of this was normal to me until the diagnosis coupled with my own research. Ill definitely bring this up to my Dr

Ive recently wrote about this in a post. Seeing things move in corner of my eyes like a spider running but then i look and nothing there. Side effect of my gabrpentin and zapain taken together i believe.

Whatever the possible cause? Go. To. Neurologist. Now. If it is medication, then it's fixable. If there's a brain glitch, then it's probably treatable. If you get a neuro-psych evaluation, you may find antoher answer. Fatigue can cause some neuro glitches, but even if that is "all" it is? DOcs need to know, b/c side effects and symptoms should be stopped ASAP wheneve rpossible. Sooner you ask, sooner you know. I've *never* had these issues, and I've been on epilepsy meds, pain meds, and PTSD meds. Nope, nada.....

88FIn 1969 we decided to get married without a big wedding. Most of our friends and family liked large over the top for the time kind of weddings and I did not. First, I didn't see why spending so much money for one day when we have the rest of our lives to live. I have never regretted not having a big formal wedding. Another issue is not liking all the attention. Also, we have gone to big...
