So just giving you a hub and bumping this up so it doesn't get lost. I know we have a few folks here with bipolar who might have better input than Icould ever give.
Hang in there, and big hugs,
Leo
I had can't relate to the bipolar portion of your post, but psych's can usually manage those issues better than your regular doc. I know the hard part is finding a good one. Good luck to you
Like Leo, no for bipolar. My psychologist just yesterday recommended I go to a Psychiatrist for the same reason and to check on the meds I am taking. I told her, "don't crazy people go to the psychiatrist?". She laughed and said NO, A Psychiatrist is a Brain Doctor. They have extra medical school training to study the brain...things like are you deficient in neurotransmitters?, what effect are the meds having that you are taking (I take Wellbutrin and Cymbalta and Gabapentin along with my heart meds). I really hate it when a doc scares you into thinking you have a particular diagnosis when they don't have all the facts, and then it turns out you don't. Whether you have bipolar or not...I don't think you will know until you see the psych doc. Just my opinion. My Internist is also a Psychiatrist, she knows and is treating my fibro so I am going to her. I hope this helps a little and I am so sorry for your troubles. BIG HUGS
