Whereas we have personalities here ranging thru the whole diagnostic manual.
I reiterate. FM is physical, and has a psych effect. it sux to feel lousy and to feel we cannot be all we expect of ourselves, and all others expect of us. but that applies to people with any illness. Even flu can drive my hubby batty that way!
Take care of yourself.
HOWEVER, I have been a member for many months...where are all the people who have mentioned that people with Fibro tend to be Type "A" personalities?? I have read this numerous times in the past couple of months.
But... who is to say that a persons experience isn't valid - you feel they way you feel...
Could a person say f U to all people -- stop pleasing people -- fibro would go away or even diminish ... for the most part? Wish it were that EASY...
"The Psychologist explained the thought is that people pleasers totally drain themselves and never refuel. We suppress stress therefore our bodies take the hit. People who deal well with stress know when to stop, rest and refuel are less likely to get fibro. "
If it weren't for statements like these - they would be out of a job. Blame the victim... ( if all else fails.)
I think that with any medical problem there is a tendency to
blame things on stress--no doubt, being in a chronic state of stress and overwhelming our adrenals does not help, I felt that before I had fibro I handled stress just fine.
something else triggered it, at least in my case. Learning to manage stress and say no is a big part of managing the illness but is not a cure all any more than meditation or other lifestyle changes.
You can set the client up for failure when she tries to make all of
these changes and still feels lousy. And not to be sarcastic but if someone does have research to back up the assertion that Type A People Pleasers are likely to contract FM, I am all ears
