I just today got this book from ILL (interlibrary loan) and have been paging through it whenever I am able (sitting waiting for one daughter after school, sitting with another daughter at homework time) and it's absolutely chock full of info about food, really straight info about so many things in a very concise manner, and recipes that are incredibly easy looking and healthy in the old tradition. I learned so much already and cannot wait to make some of these things. They take so little prep! Anyone else planning to look into this one? I will purchase it when I can afford to and will give it as gifts in the future... it would make a good shower gift for a bride.

I've seen this. Got it for my SIL for CHristmas, she hated it, but then, she hates to cook! It seemed very common-sense to me, but I was raised old school and taught that way by my grandmothers.

In light of the fact that I've just come from McDonald's (which I don't usually eat), I think I really need to look into this book. :)

I love any good book recommendations--even cookbooks (I've been known to sit down and read them like a novel). :D Especially ones that call for "real" ingredients since MSG and any form of artificial sweetener aggravates my fibro. Who is the author?

I really like it.I keep picking it up and reading the sidebars. Every page has excerpts of great info on the sidebars. It's Sally Fallon. You can look at it on Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/Nourishing-Traditions-Challenges-Politically-Dictocrats/dp/0967089735/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1300759802&sr=8-1

LeoX3, you are lucky. I did NOT learn any of this stuff. I'm reading about how horrible soda is (I don't drink it but my kids take their 75 cents and go down to a corner store and get some and it's like a treat, except that they now can do it more and more as they get older! It's POISON! So this book has a recipe for ginger ale. (my favorite) And root beer (have to find the sassafrass root for that one, though).

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
