With sleep being so important for pain control, etc., I find that being in my own space helps me to sleep better. I am such a light sleeper that I cannot fall to sleep or stay to sleep with him around. When we have to stay in a hotel room as a family, it is torture for all of us. My kids beg me to have him sleep in another hotel room!
We just have "conjugal" visits to each others sleeping space. Hey whatever works in a marriage and keeps everyone happy is how I look at it.
I think it may be more common than we know. My husband has four brothers and three sisters and they all snore; It is hereditary. My sister in laws all say that they, for the most part, have moved to sleeping in another bedroom when their grown children move out.
Cuddling is fine, but when it comes to sleep I need serious alone time. LOL
He snored horribly I couldn't get to sleep. If I went to sleep before him it was better.
I know he had sleep apnea but the docs had to do the sleep study to dx it, we had to pay a bundle for deductible and co-pay to ....guess what .....find out he has sleep apnea.
Now he has the Darth Vader mask on at night .....no snoring and I've moved back in!
It's nobodies business where you sleep.
So that's been about 3 years ago, and it works out great for us. We both realize we sleep better alone, and now I know how important my sleep is to me. I agree that it's probably a lot more common than we know.
I am afraid my husband and I are nowhere near this classy. We are still very downstairs. LOL
Loved your comment.
If you find it embarrassing to be sleeping separate, I have a simple solution for you. Don't tell anyone. Your personal life and your health has nothing to do with them. (A nice way of saying it's not their business.)
I have considered keeping an air mattress in the living room to spare our couch, that is how often one of us is on it!!
