Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
Welcome to the group.
I am sorry to hear you are having a difficult time. Early days of receiving an official diagnosis of any health issue is not easy to hear and accept at first.
It can be a shock even though suspicions were had prior. Having that confirmation is a double sided sword. It sucks to have the diagnosis but it is helpful to know what to research on and how to help self and know what treatments are available.
In regards to fibro everyone reacts differently to the drugs available. Some do well some don't respond.
There are self help things we can do to that may help relieve symptoms.
I would Read all you can through the posts here. Old and new. There's a "search" you can do if you want to look up specific things.
I wish you all the best and I hope you find the group helpful.
We're here for you anytime you need to talk or for a shoulder to cry on. We understand what you're going through.
Hugs,
Elizabeth
It certainly is a lot to take in when faced with an actual dx. As others have suggested, reading is great and being with a support group is too. No one understands like those of us living with it. Having a good doctor that is willing to work with you on managing your symptoms is also key. Many of us find what works best for us by trial and error, and often times it can be a combination of any of the following: medicinal, homeopathic, physical therapy, gentle exercise and/or stretching, diet, vitamins, massage... and I'm sure I'm missing some other treatments.
Best wishes as you learn and find what helps you!
Also, the first pain clinic I went to 10 years ago , everytime I went there they would throw 3 more scripts at me. And like a good little patient (I use to be a nurse) I would take all three. Now if I had to do it over - I would of tried one med at a time - that way you know which med helps and which one is giving you side effects or which one is causing a reaction etc. Research every med before you fill the script - be informed. And in general knowledge is power.
Welcome!
In what way?
In some circumstances... some newly diagnosed people can get way over their heads by all the info that is on the internet. If a person has NO idea ... it can take a while to figure out what is accurate and what is BS...
IF... he meant -- AT ALL... there is something wrong! That is bad advice. Info is power. The more know knowledge you have the better decisions you can make.
Ultimately, its YOU that will be dealing with this. Not him.
