Hello everybody. I have had anxiety for years but this last year it has sky rocketed. I went to the emergency room on multiple occasions for what I thought were possible heart attacks, and they told me that I'm fine. I have chest pain, back pain, and arm pain. A dr recently told me that I most likely have fibromyalgia. It makes sense honestly. My anxiety feels worse by the day which then worsens the pain and I feel like I'm stuck in a nightmare. I just started therapy today and have a drs appointment soon to try and help with this rut I seem to be so deeply fallen into. I guess I'm just looking for people who are going through something similar...a support system that I can reach out to and who can reach out to me when in need. It would be really helpful during my day when im feeling my worse to have someone going through the same thing who can calm me down and vis versa. Thanks for reading. Message me at anytime!

I'm alive, I'm sleeping like a rock, and for some reason I wanted cherry juice so that seems to be helping. (??? Weirdo that I am.)***Infamous therapies over history:1. The Attic. The madwoman in the attic is a motif in literature going waaaaaay back: the nutty female relative is locked in the attic. (See: Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte for a grotesquely racist version of it, and Charlotte Perkins...

Welcome to the Perseid meteor showers, the "biggies" usually every year. (The Leonids beat 'em one year IMHO).AND today much of the northern hemisphere will see 5 to 99% solar eclipse. How cool is that? Your best bet is to be in the UK or norhtern Spain, where totality is excellent before sundown. Me, I'll get a super duper tiny itty bitty slice of it, so little that it won't be noticeable. New...

First of all, anxiety and pain tend to feed each other, believe me, I know! I have PTSD, and when I tense up? Fibro gets cranky. Then I get more upset. And more tense. And there I am in a flare. *yikes*
Second, trial and error is what often works best in helping each of us find the best medication and lifestyle and diet and so forth combination to "manage" the symptoms. Sometimes, we get great results. Sometimes, not so much. But we keep trying:-)
If you don't have "FIbro for Dummies", it's useful for a lot of us, and our family and friends, and we have a pdf download flaoting around this site somewhere (I always lose it!).
I'd offer more, but I'm worn out, so... Again, welcome!
Did your Dr do a lot of blood work and other tests to rule out other causes for your pain? It is very important because other things can mimic fibro. A specialist like a rheumatologist or/a neurologist experienced with fibro will run these tests for diagnostic purposes.
I have problems with anxiety too. It doesnt take much for me to become anxious. I take meds daily for it. Listening to soft music with headphones helps me , lots of self talk, and sometimes just taking a time out and playing a mindless game on my Kindle. It is not uncommon to have anxiety and/or depression with chronic pain and I am not telling you this to be dismissive of your anxiety , I dont want you to beat yourself up about it . I am glad you are seeking out help.
