I really like this article but what about us men who suffer from fibro - we get left out again.
What impressed me the most is what it had to say about our internal thermostat as I had an acupuncturist tell me back in 2010 that I had two distinct health problems or as he put it, I suffer from "windy heat."
The "windy" referring to the daily pain that is constantly flowing throughout my body - my fibro.
Now the 'heat' part. He said we all have an internal thermostat & it can function normally or be messed up on either the hot or cold side. He felt my 'cold' side was messed up. Since I can't drink hot beverages, take hot showers, or wash dishes in hot water, then I feel he has made an accurate evaluation of me.
However, I have a great sensitivity to both drugs & chemicals so he could not help me physically but he really gave me something to think about then & now this article adds to it.
Thanks for posting. Hope more news will be forthcoming on this study. Sounds promising.
Best wishes!!!
This makes a lot of sense to me. I always feel like its a nerve thing with my body pain. I am so glad that researchers are still working to solve the mystery and focusing on sometimes else besides in our head...
This article still doesn't explain ALL the other symptoms we have that comes along with fibro! So I was thinking the same thing as you, EMILY710. Is it just another symptom or really a cause??
As far as men go, I can tell you this much.... men in general have a tendency to feel hotter than women do. I think it has something to do with their biological make up. Men have denser bones, denser (probably) thicker muscles which burn more calories and give off more heat, and plus men have different hormones. So it's understandable if your temp malfunction tends to lean to the hot side as a result of fibro.
