Any opinions on what might be easier for the body, ibuprofen or prescription strength antiinflammatory? Don't even know if ibuprofen would work
That is fantastic news about your success with Naltrexzone. I am going to ask my doctor about it because I want to give it a try and see if my body responds well. I have only tried 500mg of Naproxen an anti-inflammatory and it helps very little. I am so happy the Naltrexzone is working well for you. When you mentioned all the things you are able to do again it caused me to remember how I used to move around for hours without a problem. I am lucky now if I can get grocery shopping done but I am determined and feeling inspired that I will find the right medication just as you have. I am in the early stages of treatment so at least now I have a much better idea of what I want to try next. I wish you the best and thank you :-)
Here are some things I believe to be true.
1) you got to take charge of your fibro management because no one else will or can as well as you. That means that unless you have a doctor who specializes in fibro and is actually up to date on it, you are going to have to bring her ideas and information.
2) if you take charge effectively, you can manage this condition incredibly well.
3) if you do it quickly, you will prevent a cycle of increasing deterioration and increasing pain. A PT who specializes in fibro at our local research university explained it to me. Without treating the symptoms, the condition gets worse, the person does less, with less activity, the threshold for pain gets lower, and so on in a downward spiral.
4) you have to treat all the symptoms. IBS? For me I treat it with gluten, dairy, additive free diet, a probiotic, and vitamins to compensate for the poor absorption. Pain, sleep, and psychological? Cymbalta Energy, sleep, and infections? Naltrexone. Spine problems? Special Stretching exercises, And, of course, "exercise" for everything. Might just mean walking.
5) you have to "measure and monitor" what you do and the effect of everything on you so you can regulate it. That is why I am using a pedometer.
I am glad that I inspired you. It hurts me tremendously to see how many of my fibro friends are in so much pain. If I post that I am doing well is that being cruel to say so? Plus, I don't think that they have to be. If I managed to be so much better, I think/hope that everyone can too. My hope is to inspire people.
