All I can do is stretching, applying some Aspercreme or whatever you have and stay active for it will move on down and have a little relief.
Hopefully someone will have a magical answer but I dont even have a magicpill for flares or anything
I just joined the group and I take trammadol, and some days nothing helps but bio-freeze or magic freeze at walmart which is a roll-on that seems to ease the bad flare ups, I have to rub it,or have husband put it on all tenderpoints every few hours, and then just lay down and keep warm until pain gets better. My fibro flares up before any weather changes and sometimes for no reason that I can figure out. I hope this helps.
It's part of what makes it most confusing. If you're not on a max dose of tramadol you might call your doctor and ask if you can take an extra dose while you're flaring.
Sometimes my flare ups happen as a result of something else, over exersion, the weather esp when it's really cold, cold weather makes my body feel like i have a whole bunch of really small knives being thrown into my muscles. I used to find that heat from a heating pad really helped the extremely sore muscles during a flare up. But mine is no longer working lol. During a flare up I smoke another joint, throw on my metal music and try to forget my body exists. Feed my spirit and my soul let my body take care of itself.
Not a total fix no, but it's what works for me, I find that cannabis has helped my flare ups esp the ole knife in the tender points thang. And I think it's better than overloading my system with tylenol with codiene in it - aka Tylenol#1 no prescription needed. I am thinking of asking my dr for tramadol as I am hearing more and more fm sufferers recommend it.
I said "magicfreeze" as a rub-on pain reliever, I'm sorry its Max-freeze" at wal-mart and its works almost as good as bio-freeze, which to me is the best! but expensive! especially if your hurting in alot of different places! I was reading magicpill's comment and the knife in it was a good example. Hope this helps!
Try Theragesic. It's like the icy hot etc. but is fantastic! You can buy it at Walmart for about $5.
