Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
For those that do not know Cajun, she is one of the nicest persons here and is always willing to share her support and knowledge, and I haven't even known her that long and know this :)
I support the idea of the "sub site" for new people to go to and read up on. I wish that had been here when I first joined. It's nice to read everyone's story and feel as though one has a reference point when joining a group. It may not be for everyone, but it's nice for those that want it, and it saves people from having to repeat their story again and again. I know that sometimes I am busy and would like to share my story with someone that is new, but then a whole bunch of new people show up at one time, and there simply isn't enough time to respond personally like that to everyone. So in that respect, it is a win-win situation to have this sub-site, IMHO :)
So much gets washed away in the discussion boards. We are a chatty group with much to discuss.
Funny how F pain/fog can alter one's perspective. The thought of you trying to make the newbies unwelcome never occurred to me, but I've not had so much pain lately.
If anyone said anything to you about starting the sub-group, then that person is not only completely wrong, she is a fool.
Your idea is a great idea. It is far easier to go to one page, dedicated specifically to stories of the hows, whats, and what is working now, than to weed through all of the subjects that we place on the main board everyday.
Shame on anyone who said anything derogatory about a sub-group idea that is meant to do nothing but help
I think it's a wonderfully thoughtful idea to put such a wealth of information in one, easy-to-find/navigate spot. It's a great place to go and research to one's little heart's content.
Newbies can go and peruse at their pace and it's especially wonderful for the lurkers out there, too shy or those that just don't want to step out and ask for help. For those, answers and experience and tips and been-there-done-that information is within their grasp.
or, if they want, they can just come over to the main board and ask. The option is theirs but this GIVES them an option and a different way to get to know their own bodies and what might be going on.
((((hugs)))) You'se done good, lady! ;)
i think your sub group is a great idea. i haven't posted yet, but have every intention of doing so if i can get past the fatigue i am fighting now
Seriously though, I think that someone just got a wrong impression about the group here and now must realize that we are all together and all welcoming to everyone, all the time.
I dont think anyone could have enough info or support and when a person is new to the diagnosis or groups, I can see where oth would be very beneficial....so i just wanted to send out a thank you to you for neing that thoughtful,,,,,,,,, KD
Excellent idea, especially for anyone new.
Good job!
