I have never experience that type of twitching and jerking. What does your doc say about it? It sounds almost like you are having seizures, but, I don't think people are aware of what is happening to them during one. Hopefully someone here can tell you more than I can . I think you should Definately be speaking with your doc about it tho. Hugs to you!

I have those epsoides sometimes. It is more like a full body jolt and I usually have them when I am asleep or just falling asleep. I have never mentioned to my Dr because I usually don't think about them until I have on again. Thank goodness it is not oftem. I think mine are when I am extremely fatigued.

I have had those...especially in one arm or one leg. It happens when I am very tired...

OK- Originally it was thought the muscle thingy-ma-jobs were due to MS or MD. Both are negative. Mine seem to be weather realated and hubby says I do this all nite long but it isn't strong enough to wake me. Usually it is during the day or when overtired, irked, emotional/physical overload. So, IT IS FM? What can be done beside Valium which is what Dr. gave me.

Could it be a severe case of restless leg syndrome? My legs and arms used to jerk uncontrolably when I tried to go to sleep Requip has copletely stopped the jerks for me. Yours is a lot worse but it might be worth it to try requip. Good luck.

Happens to me too when I get really tired. It's painful because my muscles - all over my body, but especially in my legs - will seize up and then start jerking. Also happens if I get cold, so I just have to try to avoid getting too tired or cold. Could be that the meds are making it worse. Should ask your doc.

Wow here I thought I was the only one person who did this. I flop like a fish out of water as I am falling asleep or asleep. I too fly up off the bed a good 3-4 inches. I actually thought it was my essential tremors maybe not...hummm!!

OK EVERYBODY, this jerky thing is technically called "PSYCHOGENIC SEIZURES". No one knows what causes them (SHOCK!) but they are "usually" related to being tired, cold, during a trauma, etc. Therefore, after I did the research, I believe that since FM screws up the muscles, nerve signals, etc. it truly is related to FM. I personally have jerked so hard I couldn't speak, move, etc. but I am fully alert, know what is happening, etc. I just lose control of muscles top to toe. Ah, well. I get these too. I don't remember if any of my doctors ever said which of my medical problems caused them.

However, I take a low dose of a muscle relaxant and it's wonderful. name of med is "twitches be gone!" no, not really but that's what it does.

Please talk to your doctor about this.

as for knowing what happens when one is having a seizure, you do. before I got my pain med mix settled, i'd have grand mal seizures and yes, I knew what was going on around me when it was happening.

I get twitching all the time. I have read it is part of fibro. Good luck! I don't twitch really back but just the little ones.

I take Lyrica and the jerks/twitches seemed to start with the Lyrica and increased whenever the dose was increased. I have almost worn a couple of cups of coffee and it has even happened to me when driving ... scarey!

Heard about that med being used for diabetic neuropathy. Never for FM tho. Hmmm, it was suggested to me but after hearing what you said...don't think so. Thanks for the warning!

I also have those, mostly when I'm about to fall asleep. They hurt! Mostly it's in my legs, though.

I have muscle twitching but they are little and they vary in location. They are worse in a flare up, and were extreme when I was on the guai protocol. I get them especially in my right wrist, and I can see the muscle twitch like little hiccups. I have always wondered if other fibros had this. I also have some jerks but not as often (since my twitching is almost constant). It's never painful. Restless leg syndrome is apparently very common for some people with fibro. I would think that muscle relaxers might help. Something I want to remind all of us who suffer with this, doctors honestly don't know a thing about fibro, and so when we go to see them, we need to tell them what we need which often includes telling them what to prescribe us. i have this same problem and my wife spoke to my doctors about it and they sent me for testing and all i learned was it is either or ,, psuedo seizures,, or restless leg syndrome,,, my wife says i jerk so hard it wakes her up out of a dead sleep,, it has all symptoms of an actual seizure,, but since they could not force me under their control to go into a seizure they labeled me having psuedo seizures,, meaning i have the symptoms and shake and jerks as if i am having a seizure but not an actual seizure which is not as dangerous as an actual seizure although it can cause damage if your doing this every night or day,, i suggest you mention this to the doctor because they can maybe test you to learn why your doing this ,,,
