Do you take an anti depressant? I take a very low dose one cuz doc says it will help with the pain. I recently was having mood swings, too. I mean, I about bit everybodies heads off and then felt bad later. I usually am not this moody. So I asked the doc if I maybe needed a stronger dose of the anti- depressant. I had also been in some bad pain for a few days. Anyway what he told me sure made sense to me. He said that as much pain as I was in, it would be hard for anyone to be bright and Cheery. I totally agree with him. So ,I think that yes it's fibro related, but only in the sense that the fibro is causing the pain and the pain is causing the mood swings. Hope you can understand what it is I'm trying to say. I have been fogging all day! LOl!

I totally agree with what Levi's Granny said. Who wouldn't have mood swings when you go from feeling great to horrible in a few hours and then back again [if you're lucky]. An antidepressant is essential for me. In my opinion, it's definately fibro related.

OK, well, not on an anti-dep. The CYMBALTA is an anti-dep as well as for pain, but it REALLY CAUSED me to be depressed and angry! Went off it Friday. Maybe that's it or maybe it just intensified the "normal" mood swings I have.

Do your feelings/moods seem to feed off others? Sort of like you are over-emotional? NORMALLY (OH I hate that word as the only "normal" thing is a setting on a clothes dryer! LOL) I am a very happy optimistic upbeat kinda gal. Even when my pain(s) were at level 8 all day(s) I didn't bite off heads or get angry. Just did alot of deep breathing and became extra quiet.

I have been feeling the exact same way...and I don't know if it is just because I was recently diagnosed and I can't seem to cope yet or if it is a sign of depression...any suggestions?

anti-depressant or not, who wouldn't be moody having to deal with this pain day in and day out. I was off anti-depressants for quite a while and I was still moody, now that I am back on, I am the same way. I just think this disease sux..bottom line. Face it....we all have alot to deal with, its no wonder.

I am with the rest..it is defiinately pain related..we got through more pain than the average bear, and we are trying to adjust to a life unlike the one we enjoyed so much, and with so much energy..I am talking cathese, just read what i wrote, and a little hard to follow, but if i try to type it over, I'll forget what i wrote!!

like everyone has said yes we do get mood swings my nuro wanted to send me for a behav test for the mood swings. I didnt go it would be a waist of money to sit and talk to someone for them to figure out why i get mood swings. I know why like it was said with all we go threw the pain, fog,shakes,tingles,loss of balance not being able to talk when you want to, My doc put me on zoloft and it helps with my depresion hang in there

Thanks to all for your input. Yes, "talking" about being whatever is useless. I am giving my dr. the two books I recommended so she will UNDERSTAND reality I live in as opposed to textbook FM.

Mood swings can be for many reasons...I've been having them frequently these past several months. I'm taking an antidepressant but I think I need something more to help with the mood swings. There is something but I don't know the name of it yet. I'm seeing my psychiatric nurse in a couple of weeks and I'm going to ask her about it. Of course it can be from the fibro. We react according to the way we are feeling physically. It certainly can take it's toll on our emotions...Hope that you find something to bring you comfort.

I'm not sure about Cymbalta but some meds you have to ween yourself off of. If you just quit taking it you may be suffering from the effects of stopping your meds all of a sudden. I also agree that when you are in pain it is depressing. And even the nicest person when pushed to thier limits will snap.

im having so much pain right now i could just scream.ive already told my new boyfriend if i got really quite he would know i was in pain. husband used to think i was mad when i did that. i have got a lot of things im going to give him to read . and if he reads that then comes back ill know he is a keeper.

My Doctor put me on Zoloft 100mg. Its works!!!!! my husband always asks me did you take your ZOLOFT.

My Mother started to take it for menopause it helped her. My sister Rosa has these bad PMS days..I mean shes is the DEVIL (lol)


I gave her a Zoloft and she was fixed.
Try it if it works on my sister it will work on u.

I think I shall call my Dr. and ask for Prozac if I don't feel "better" soon. I was on it when my Grams & Gramps passed and it was a life saver. Hmmm, I know FM ain't the same as grief/trauma depression but ain't it really all the same.....depression/pain I mean?

My dr. says "pain is depression and depression is pain." Not sure I agree with that as CHILD LABOR was pain but wasn't depressed then. ROFLOL BUT IT DID FREAK ME OUT WHILE IN LABOR and the nurse pops in her head and says "There's a priest here to see you. Do you want to see him?" ROFLOL ROFLOL Now, first I thought, "LADY, I don't want him seeing me in this position. Then I thought, Oh Lord, am I that far GONE?" ROFLOL
