I love this Shakota! We should all make signs saying this and put them up someplace to remind us. No one has the right to tell us what we should be doing unless they live with high pain levels everyday, unrelenting fatigue, brain fog, and all the other lovely day to day realities we face. It is one thing to have a really bad cold or the flu yet one gets over those and goes back to normal living. For those that have all these great ideas for how we should cope or live our lives I say this: How would you feel if your day to day reality was like having a bad case of the flu yet ramp up all the symptoms about five or more times....? Such people I will tell my reality to once and after that they are out of my circle it is that simple. It is so easy to judge yet I wish some people could walk in our shoes for a month much less all the years we endure it all. Enuf' said.
I was diagnosed with fibro in 2008 and I am just starting not to beat myself up when I can't do the things I want to do. I know it gets maddening not to even be able to have half the life you used to before fibro. We have to be happy with simpler ways of living. I have four kitties to keep me company because I can't socialize as I'd like to. I am lucky to have a few friends that are still in my inner circle that understand what I go through. Nevertheless, I don't know when I can go out and do things with them. So the kitties help satisfy that as they are so loving and entertaining. I have tried to make my house as fibro friendly as I can since I spend so much time here. I can't imagine what having fibro would be like without the internet and being able to come here and share as well as vent. Its like learning to be grateful for what you do have or can do, however small that is. For me it is an attitude I have to practice and remind myself of very often. Take care and God bless!
I try to tell the people that I schedule things with that I have Fibro and I may or may not be able to keep my appt with them. I find it very depressing to plan a day around an appt when I use to could fill my day with appts after working all day. I have no answers in how to do a better job at this, but accepting that fibro limits me helps some.
I hear you. I'm pretty much in the same boat. I've had this evil fibro for 17 years. It's gotten much worse in the past 4 years. I feel guilty for not doing things. I know that guilt is a useless emotion. I know that I must let go of the life I had, and accept what is. It's difficult. I've missed out on so much. I just have to take it one day at a time. It's difficult to plan anything because I never know how bad I'll feel. I'm trying to just take it one day (hour/minute/second) at a time. It sucks. You are not alone in your feelings.
